chapter 2 (surrogate wife)

“Victoria!” Victoria! Romeno, my sister”. My hands flew to my chest, and my heart squeezed in pain. I stumbled backward leaving the door open. The sheets were tangled, their movement obvious, she was straddling him, and her body froze in shock at the interruption, she arched her back and tilted her head to look at me but when our gaze meant I knew she was not sorry.

“Victoria”. I spoke, repeating her name, just to make sure I was not hallucinating, my gaze fell on Romeno again, he did not even flinch, no sign of regret, Victoria did not change her position and did not bother to cover her nude self, kissed Romeno, declaring some sense of ownership as she looked at me. My nails dunged on my skin, and my knees wobbled from shock, but I refused to be broken in front of these two.

Not taking his hands off Victoria’s waist, popped his head to the side, to have a clear view of me. “Why did you come?”. He said with no strain of guilt or regret.

“Why did I come here? is that the explanation for this?” my gaze on both of them was sharp and daring, I knew I was not the favorite sister of Victoria but I never expected her to do this to me.

“Now that you have seen this what do you want me to do? To say I am sorry? In your dreams my darling wife”. His voice rang with so much bitterness and hate, Victoria just giggled as she slid to the side, finally letting go of him, she clutched on the sheets to cover a part of her body, Romeno stood up from the bed, and strode across the room, I guess he was trying to win the prize for the King of seduction, but if only he knew how much I hated him right now, he would realize that he was just a piece of thrash to me.

He walked up to me and pulled my arm closer to him, I tried to wriggle myself away from him but his grip on me was firm and fierce. “Listen wifey, I don’t know how you never realized that I have never really been into you, long before our engagement was announced, Victoria and I had always been in a relationship, you were the villain that came in between”

“T…then why did you marry me? if you already loved my sister” My words slipped, I wanted to hide my shock, but my emotions were leaking through my words.

“Are you so dumb? Is it not obvious, that you are your father’s precious and favorite daughter and he lets everyone know that, he has no heir and of course, any man that decides to marry you automatically becomes the heir” his fingers brushed my lips “I know you don’t know that, but I guess you father was not smart enough to keep this a secret” he tilted his head to look at Victoria with a smile plastered on his face.

Disbelief ravaged the core of my emotions, and the tears that blurred my vision flowed from my eyes like a tornado, I could not take it anymore, but I could not leave either because he latched his arms to my skin “This can’t be true, father loves his girls equally and he won’t do that”

“Then you are being delusional, if you think Father loves us equally” This time it was Victoria who spoke, her words were sharp, mixed with hate and something evil. I just stared at her, unmoving, my body shook from sobbing, I needed space to breathe and process this event, it was like my perfect Cinderella life just crumbled right in front of my eyes, how do I even fix this?

“So wifey you get it now right, but you can still have me if you want” A mocking smile flashed across his face and he tried to false his lips on mine, I tried to pull him away but he tightened his grip on my hand, I bit down on his lower lips to get away.

“Aaaaaa”. Romeno screamed as he jerked back, but his grip on my hands did not loosen. “You stupid girl” his eyes blazed with anger, he pushed me hard on the floor, and I winced in pain.

“I will make sure you get nothing from my father and I”. My voice was laced with anger and determination.

He smirked at me as he turned around to put on his pants. “And who is going to stop me? You? You’re so clueless little princess, you can go ahead and tell your father, let us see if he will believe you” he sent another mocking smile my way.

My gaze fell on Victoria still lying on the bed like an ancient statue, “I can’t believe you betrayed your father for a worthless man, betrayed your sister, and slept with her husband”

She looked at me and smiled “You want me to feel guilty? You’re nothing to Romeno but a surrogate wife, a substitute to fulfill our dreams, get that into your thick skull.

Victoria moved across the room to Romeno, she placed her hands on his shoulders and kissed him passionately as her other hands cradled his face. I knew I could no longer watch the show of madness anymore, I ran out. I can’t remember how I got into the car but I just knew I did.

“Ma we are in Leer’s mansion”. The chauffeur's words brought me back to reality, I finally looked around and remembered I told him to go to Leer’s mansion, I wanted to speak to Father, I knew he would believe me, I stepped down from the car and I headed for his study room, its almost 7 pm, he his always at his study room by this time, my mind could not beat off the events in the penthouse.

“And where do you think you going to” a voice jolted me back to the present, I knew it was my step mum Mary, she has never been a fan of me, and so speaking to her about Victoria’s wrong was not going to change anything. I kept on walking to my father’s study room refusing to be distracted by her.

“You want to tell your father about Romeno and Victoria, go ahead” she let out a loud laugh, that caused me to halt in my steps.
