Chapter 3_ Go Ahead (Gracey’s P.O.V) “You want to tell your father about Romeno and Victoria, go ahead” she let out a loud laugh, that caused me to halt in my steps. “Go ahead,” she said again. My grip on my skirt fastened and I knew I had to do that to keep my anger in check “You support Victoria in this show of madness Mother” Bitterness laced my last word, she was not fit to be my mother, she had never acted like one anyways. “You have no right to question me, little girl” She took two steps to get closer to me, and she tried to cup my chin, like she used to do, but anger sprang from within me, and I brushed her hands off me. She smirked “I can see that you becoming bold” She looked at her hand and stared back at me, she smiled but then I felt the chill of bitterness that accompanied it “Go ahead” she pointed at father’s study room. I did not bother to look at her, I walked straight to the study room and without knocking, opened the door “Father” the silence in the room was deafening, I looked around even if it was obvious that no one was in. I turned around to look at Mary “Where is Father?” my gaze was sharp and my words firm, I almost flinched at the sound of my voice She smiled again and played with her fingers. “You have his number why don’t you try to call him” she let out a loud laugh. I have been trying to call Father in the last 24 hours and noticed his number has not been connecting, he is always like that when he is in a very important meeting, but it is already late, he is supposed to be back home by now, my thoughts raced for solutions, let me call Henry, my father’s bodyguard to see if he is with father. “You don’t want to call him” she laughed and walked away, I did not even bother with her anymore, I picked up my phone to call Henry but his phone was not connecting. I walked back to the car. “Ma where should I take you”. The chauffeur spoke. I was lost in my thoughts for a while before I finally responded “Take me home” I don’t know if I should still call it a home, but I am going to fight for Father and me and teach these people a lesson “Take me home” I repeated assuring myself of what I intended to do. “The drive home was brief, but I kept wondering what I would do to get my life back on track when I got back into the once beautiful and romantic room I ever created, it sent bitter chills down my spine, the rose petals on the bed suddenly felt like trash in my eyes, I walked to the bed and trashed all the rose petals on the floor. “ahh” I screamed, as I stopped the song Perfect that was still playing in the background, I was so exhausted that I had no more tears for Romeno. I pulled myself to the corner of the room and hugged my knees, I tried to bury the remnants of the sweet memory between Romeno and me, the memory is on a constant repeat in my mind. “rannnnng” the sound of my phone ringing, consoled the silent and gloomy room, I had no intention of taking any calls and that, an unknown number but when the phone rang for the third time, I had to {Hello} {Miss Gracey, your father was involved in the ghastly motor accident} The voice sounded so unsettled and worried, instantly pulling me to my feet at the sound of his last statement {where is he?} There was no response from the caller {hello} and the next thing I heard was a gun shot and the line went off, I stood there frozen from shock, and suddenly I got myself back trying to call the number but it was not reachable. “I can’t just sit here and wait for any ugly news, I need to get the police involved” I picked up my bag to go out of the room, but before my hands were on the doorknob the door suddenly swagged open, my eyes frowned at the presence of the man in front of me, I tried to move past him but he refused to leave the way. “Where do you think, you are going to?” he acted like he was not just with another woman “You have no right to ask me that question? You lost that right, a few hours ago, remember?” “You’re so funny Gracey, but I like this fierce side of you, you are not the weakling as we all thought, never the less, you’re still very much a harmless fly” he smirked at me tried to soothe me with his arms on my shoulders, I pulled backward. “You can do whatever you want but you not leaving this house” his words were soft but he spoke with so much authority and finality like it had been sealed “Who is going to stop me?” he did not respond; he just held my wrist and false me to sit on the bed “I don’t want to hurt you, Gracey, if you do as I say, you going to be safe” his eyes burned with dark menacing intensity, radiating pure evil. I pulled my hands away from him, ignoring his words I tried to head for the door. “I need to see Father, he needs me,” I said “But you can’t see your father now”. His words were void of any emotion “I need to see Father; he was involved in an accident and I need to inform the police” “You can’t see your father, he his dead already, he died in an accident” I tried to search his eyes to see an iota of a joke but he was serious, I stumbled backward to gain my balance “Your father is dead” he spoke again.
