Chapter Three

1531 Words
I wondered and pondered about what Karen told me the other night. How was I going to find them? For all I knew, they could be powerful and rich, I did not have the kind of power or money to bring them down. I was trying to get ready when Rob came in, distracting me from my thoughts. “There you are, Elysa. I have a job for you tonight. You are invited to the red room to dance for some of our VIP clients. I already told them that you would do it, please make them happy, will you?” he asked in a commanding tone. If I didn't need the money, I wouldn't even be doing this, but who was I to say no? I needed all the money I could get to enrol for all for college so I could get a decent job. “Yes Rob, I will go in once I'm done-” he cut my words short. Rude “No, Elysa, they need you now, come on, hurry up,” he snapped his fingers. I gave a long sigh, changing into less revealing clothes. Not just anyone entered the red room because it was a space for the VVIPs, but I got in on my first day. Once in a while, I would think of the little passionate dance session between me and Richard, and my cheeks would immediately turn red. The room was filled with people this time, women and men, and their atrocious activities. “Woah look who's here,” one of the men got up from the couch to fix his hands on my shoulders. Everyone suddenly turned in my direction. “Give us a good show, would ya,” he smirked, spiralling me to the dance floor. I let out a huge sigh, trying to calm my racing heart. I gave them one last look to make sure I had their attention. Once I had that, I began. I recently learned new moves online, so I had a lot of them to spare. I heard whistling from the group and immediately smirked, pouring more energy into it. Once my session was over, I bowed and proceeded to leave, but one of the men stopped me. “You're not done, hotcakes, I want a private session,” his smoky breath hit me like a strong wind, and I took a few steps back. “What, can't take a smoky breath huh,” he smirked. All of a sudden, he dragged me to the table and tried to force me to smoke. “What are you doing? Let me go!” I kicked him hard in the shin. Oops “A feisty one, alright, I'll give you exactly what you want, hold her!” The other men held my hands and feet while the obviously drunk junkie tried to pull his pants. All of a sudden, one of the women started to convulse violently. I was immediately let go, and all the attention was drawn to her. For a second, I was happy because I was free from their treacherous attempt to r**e me, but then again, someone was about to die. “Someone call an ambulance!” A young girl screamed. She seemed to even be younger than me. I immediately tried to open the door, but it was locked from the outside. “s**t,” I hissed. I quickly ran to the convulsing woman, trying to fit a spoon in her mouth. “Everyone move, give her some space. You help me hold this in place,” I gestured to one of the men to hold the spoon in place for me while I tried to hold her properly. Luckily, someone opened the door, but “s**t, it's the police!” Oh no “Everyone move out, now!” The police man's voice echoed throughout the room. I was pulled away from the girl and cuffed, along with the rest of the gang in the room. “Wait, I'm innocent! I'm just a worker here, I didn't do anything!” I tried to speak to them, but it was as if they couldn't even hear me. “Elysa! Wait, where are you taking her? Elysa!” Liza screamed, scrambling into her jacket. “Liza!” I shouted back. “It's gonna be okay, I'm coming to meet you,” she said, and I shook my head. The policeman pushed me into the car and then drove off immediately. Great, I've been arrested. This is what I get for trying to save a dying human. I was thrown in a little cell with the other guys. “God no,” I pulled my hair. I did not want Karen and David to find out about this at all. I sat quietly and watched how everyone else was being released. I guess being rich was their ticket to freedom. Liza came attempting to bail me out, but we were told that I've been implicated. Apparently, they found substances in my belongings that matched the ones found in the body of the girl who convulsed. “I'm sorry, miss, but this case is pinned on you,” he said. “You have got to be kidding me! I work there, why would I want to kill her, I don't even know who she is. Besides, will I try to save someone I want to get rid of, think about that sir,” I ranted to the detective. “You're lucky she isn't dead,” he mocked. “I'm lucky? You should be grateful to me! I was the only one sensible enough to save her before you assholes finally showed up. But what do I get in return huh, a flimy arrest,” I sneered. “Watch your mouth, lady,” he pointed his finger at me. I groaned. “Ely, calm down, I asked Rob for some help. I hope he gets here soon,” Liza complained. Richard's POV “There has been a problem sir, one of our workers is caught up in the case.” Rob complained. I arrived at the club the next morning, Rob had called my assistant the night before to inform me about the crazy s**t that went down in my club. “Quiet! How many times have I warned you not to let them do drugs in my club? or at least make sure this doesn't happen? Jesus Christ, Rob,” I groaned loudly, rubbing my temple. This wasn't what I needed right now. “Who is this worker that was caught up?” I asked. “Elysa sir,” he whispered. My eyes and ears twitched at the sound of her name. “What did you say? First of all, why was she there? How was she caught up in it?” My body vibrated with violent anger as I tried to listen to his excuse. “Uh sir, I uh I sent her in there. They asked for her, and I had no choice but to send her there,” he bowed his head, not daring to look me in the eye. “Rob! Jesus, she's not the only dancer in this club! Why wasn't there an attendant to supervise her and send her out once it was over, huh?” I took a deep, long breath, trying to ease my anger. Elysa.. I hadn't been able to get her out of my mind after the night we danced together. I had only ever thought of ways to keep her in my line of sight, which wasn't me at all. I never think too much about a woman, especially if I don't want to, but I couldn't seem to lay this one off. She invaded my thoughts like a parasite, I pictured her body in every corner of my mind and in my bed. Now I know I will never be satisfied until I have gotten her as close to me as possible. My grandfather still bugged me about marriage, and I wanted to get it over with so I could fully claim the company. I thought of proposing it to her. She looked like she needed money anyway. Maybe I could offer it to her in exchange for helping her, or not… “I'm heading to the precinct, and Rob, I just need one more s**t from you, and you're out. Are we clear?” I warned him. “Please forgive me, sir,” he begged. “Dumbass,” I hissed, walking out of the club and into my car. It was a saturday and so I didn't need my driver. I preferred to drive during the weekends, even though reporters still followed me around. I called my lawyers already and they waited for me at the station. My phone rang a bit and I answered. “Mr Holmes? I'm sorry to inform you but the lady is dead. She died a few minutes ago, and we will most likely perform an autopsy. I don't think she died because of the drugs,” he explained. “Jesus Christ, okay, doctor, thank you,” I hung up the phone. “s**t!” I screamed.
