Faith Point of View
"Honey, someone's calling your phone!" I shouted as I heard his phone ringing. He seemed not to hear me since he was in the bathroom taking a shower. I dropped the pot holder because I was cooking dinner for tonight and grabbed the cellphone.
As I picked up the cellphone, I saw the name "Danna" on the screen. I was curious about who she was calling on my husband's phone. I answered it and heard a girl's voice on the other end.
"Hello, good evening, Alex. I'm sorry to call you at this late hour, but something came up in the office right now," she said. She had an angelic and sexy voice, and I was curious about her identity.
Before I could talk, I saw my husband walking towards me, topless, and with a towel around his waist, curious about who I was talking to with his cellphone.
I immediately gave him his phone and told him someone named Danna was calling, shooting him a dirty look. He just chuckled, looking at me as if to say, "What are you doing with my phone?" He answered the phone while walking upstairs.
I continued cooking because it was already 7 pm, and we still hadn't had dinner.
I cooked pasta and ordered a pizza box as requested by our 7-year-old son.
I walked in front of the stairs. "Axel! Dinner's ready, hurry up!" I shouted toward the second floor. I heard his door open and close, indicating he was coming downstairs to the dinner table.
"How was your assignment?" I asked him as he was busy pulling the chair to sit at the table.
"It was fine, Mom. I colored it," he replied happily.
I put my hand on his hair and brushed it with my fingers. "Good job, baby. As a reward, I ordered pizza as you requested," I said. He chuckled and opened a big, wide smile.
I was busy preparing dinner when I saw my husband dressed in his uniform, walking quickly down the stairs. "Where are you going?" I asked him.
He put on his shoes and necktie. I walked towards him and adjusted his necktie. "Something came up in the office. One of the cargos is missing," he said as I was fixing his necktie.
"Who's Danna?" I abruptly questioned.
He smiled playfully at me. "Oh, are you feeling threatened by the name Danna?" he said seductively, playing with a big smile on his face.
"Oh, come on," I chuckled.
He kissed me on the lips while still smiling. "Danna is my assistant," he said.
I stopped fixing his necktie and looked at him curiously. "Ms. Assistant, the hot and sexy assistant of Mr. Alex," I said, my voice filled with intrigue. Playfully, I added, "Should I be jealous?" I displayed a wide, playful smile.
"Really? You're the hottest girl, and really damn hot, honey," he smiled and kissed me again. "She's not my type. You are my type."
"Okay, you got me there," I chuckled.
He kissed me passionately. I patted his back as I saw our son looking at us and smiling.
Sitting at the dinner table with my son, Axel, waiting for my husband, Alex, I felt disappointed. It was already 8 p.m., and Axel was tired. I put him to bed, hoping Alex would arrive soon.
As the hours passed, I felt more anxious. By midnight, Alex still hadn't come home. I sighed heavily, realizing he wouldn't make it for dinner. Sadly, I put the food in the fridge.
I took out a glass of whiskey and drank, walking towards my office table with the computer on. I opened my cabinet and took out my journal of my patient.
"One of my patients recently went through a tough time. She had a miscarriage, and it hit her hard. But I've been really proud of how she's been handling it. She's been brave and resilient, even though it's been really difficult. We've been talking a lot about her feelings and how she's coping. I've been there to listen and offer support. It's been inspiring to see her slowly starting to heal. She's been opening up more and expressing her emotions, which is a big step forward. I've been helping her find ways to honour her baby's memory and cope with her grief. She's been finding comfort in her faith, which has been a source of strength for her. It's been a journey, but I'm glad to see her making progress and finding hope again."
As I finished writing, I put back the notebook in the drawer and locked it.
I turned off the computer and walked upstairs. In our bedroom, I felt tired and lonely climbing into bed.
Suddenly, I heard the door open. I looked at the alarm clock on my table; it was 2 a.m., and he had just gotten home.
"I've been waiting for hours," I whispered as I had just been woken up by his sudden movements.
He kissed my neck, making me tingle. "I got busy at work," he said, still slowly kissing my neck.
I sighed. "You could've called." I faced him and gave him a smack kiss.
He nodded while slowly putting his hands on my thigh and giving me a smack kiss on my neck. "You're right. I should've. I'm really sorry, honey."
"Let's just get to bed, I'm tired," I said sadly, looking at him.
He just looked at me and continued to give me a kiss. "You smell whiskey, you're drinking alone?" I just nodded. He stopped kissing and back, hugging me while we slept.
I woke up to Alexander gently kissing my cheek and neck. Slowly, I opened my eyes to find him topless, just out of the bath. I caught a whiff of his body odour as he opened the curtains, letting the morning sun flood the room.
He lay down beside me, his upper body on the bed. "Wake up, breakfast is ready," he whispered.
"What time is it?" I asked groggily.
"Don't worry, it's still 8 a.m.," he replied. "Breakfast is ready, and I've already dropped Axel off at school."
He leaned in and untied the towel around his waist.
"Oh, God, Alex," I burst into laughter as I caught sight of his erection. I quickly looked away, trying to suppress my giggles. "It's 8 a.m., for heaven's sake!"
He chuckled at my reaction. "What?" he innocently replied.
I grabbed a pillow and threw it over his lap to cover his exposed genitals.
He kissed me gently, but I didn't respond. I hadn't brushed my teeth yet. "So... what's going on with you and your Ms. sexy assistant?" I started the topic.
He lay down beside me and looked me in the eyes, brushing the hair away from my face. "It's nothing, honey," he reassured me.
I smiled and placed my palm on his cheek. "I wouldn't cheat on you. I will never do anything to jeopardize our happy family," he said sincerely, looking into my eyes.
"I know," I replied. "I just wanted to know your thoughts. I want to address any issues before they become problems."
He smiled. "You sound like a therapist now," he teased. I smiled back, feeling the warmth of his affection.
"If I were to cheat, do you think you would figure it out?" I asked seriously.
"I might not catch on right away, but deep down, I'll have a sense that something's off. Over time, I'll start to notice subtle changes in your behaviour. We've been together for nearly 11 years, and I've become attuned to your quirks and habits. Even though you're not an open book, I can still pick up on the slightest changes. It's like there's this unspoken connection between us, and I can sense when something's not right. So, while I might not immediately know if you're cheating, I have this intuition that won't let me ignore the signs," he explained seriously.
"I love you, Alex," I kissed him, and he responded passionately.
"What would you do if you caught me cheating?" I asked, breaking the silence that followed.
"I don't know, I couldn't bear to lose you, honey. I love you so much, and I honestly don't know how I would react," he confessed.
"Would you catch me?" he questioned back.
I smiled at him before answering. "It depends, but most likely, yes. You're easy to read," I said matter-of-factly.
He chuckled and patted my face lightly. "And you're an adventurous and mysterious woman," he said proudly. "Remember our 8th date when we went to the cinema?"
I lightly slapped his face, laughing and feeling embarrassed about what he was about to say. "Honey, too much information!" I laughed, but he continued his story.
"You kept playing with my joystick, and there I was, sitting, thinking. And I was like, 'My God, what have you done!'" We both laughed. "And then you unzipped my zipper and really went for it! I couldn't even move or make a sound at that time, and I knew from that day that you are the one I will build my family with," he concluded.
"For going for it!" I exclaimed, shocked yet amused, and we both laughed. He nodded in agreement. "You're a d**k!"
"Well, you're quite the exotic, Mrs. Faith Harrington," he winked, and we both laughed.
