A sudden knock came on Anna’s bedroom door.

“Oh my God—sorry!” Anna blurted, scrambling to her feet in a rush.
Vincenzo rose from the floor, brushing dust from his shirt.

She quickly smoothed her hair, tucking a loose strand behind her ear before running a shaky hand through it. “Uh… I—”

Then Lucy’s voice followed. “Anna? Are you in there?”
