The Alpha

Chapter 10

I’m standing in front of everyone ready to give instruction. Ready for the hard battle that awaits us. Ready to defeat my opponent. They look back at me ready to receive instruction.

“Ok James you’re with Joe. Will with your best friend. Jess you’re with Liam.” All nod except for Liam.

“How come you’re with Will if anyone has any right to be your game partner it’s your mate. That’s me.”

“Sorry Liam. Bros before hoes. And from what I’ve heard you’re a real hoe.” I giggle and he gives a shocked look before giving me puppy eyes again. I swear every time he does them it breaks the wall but it’s just too much fun to mess around with him.

“Darling, I admit I was a playboy, but it was all in the past don’t be angry please.” I smile and look right in his eyes.

“Liam I’m not angry. Just as long it doesn’t continue because your mine now.” He smirked before he looked confused.

“Wait…you’re not mad?”

“No, it’s not like I haven’t had a few guys here and there…maybe even more than you.” I laugh when Liam growls.

“How many?” Liam says through grinded teeth. Standing up right in front of me. 

“Look I know how many people you’ve slept with. I know that its more than half the females in this pack and I am not mad because I know I have had a few one-night stands. I’m not gonna sit here and be a hypocrite. Now shut the hell up and let’s play.” I sit next to Will and Liam sits next to Jess.

For most of the game Will and I have been winning. I think Liam is getting jealous. He’s been staring at Will since we started. Every time Will even high fives me or we hug in victory, he holds in a growl.

‘Will I think that maybe I should stop messing with Liam. We’ve had our fun this past week, but I think he’s had enough.’

‘I think so too. I think that you should switch partners. I don’t want to be killed in my sleep.’

‘Yeah. Thanks, Will.’

“Liam, how about me and you become partners and Jess goes with Will.”

“I thought you didn’t like to change your plans.” Liam said in a matter of fact tone.

"Well I already talked to Will about it and he said it was ok, but if you don’t want to then I guess I could st” Liam cuts me off before I could finish my sentence.

“No, I’m good with this.” Jess and I stand up to switch spots but when I’m about to sit Liam pulls me on top of his lap. I giggle and kiss him. When he deepens the kiss, we hear a throat clear, we pull apart breathless.

We continue with game night only this time we play charades. I’m surprised that Liam knows that much about me. I didn’t think he has actually been paying attention to me. I know that he wanted me here and didn’t want me here. But all this time I thought that he was avoiding me. Who knew that he was actually paying attention to all the little things. 

It was already late, and Liam and I were in the lead, when we decided to call it a night.

Everyone already went to sleep I volunteered to clean up and Liam stayed to help. When we finished cleaning, we head to our room. I moved my stuff into his room when he said we would be together. On our way I saw Chase wondering the halls.

“Chase what are you doing awake. Its late.” He turned when he heard my voice. 

"I…I was…never mind. Good night.” I was acting weird.

“Wait, Chase. What’s wrong.” He looks like he just saw a ghost. I lead him to my room and sit him on the bed.

“It’s just that…every now and then I get a dream of you leaving me…I just wanted to check if you were ok.” What he says makes me feel to guilty. I can’t imagine what he went through. I hug him when I see a tear fall from his face onto his shirt. I sing him the same song I sing to Rosie. I actually sang it to him first. When he would cry because of being bullied, I sang it him.

When he feels better, I walk him to his room and tuck him in. I walk back after I kiss his forehead and see Liam already in bed waiting for me.

“You’re such a good mother.” I hear him say. I lay on the bed without saying anything. I stare at the ceiling and let the tears fall freely down my face and onto the bed sheets.

“Why are you crying darling?” I turn to Liam with a red puffy face.

“I’m not a good mother. Rosie…she…I love her, and I couldn’t settle for her. I felt like I was missing something, and I know what that is now but all these years? Others would have settled for their children to be there when the talk or walk for the first time. For their first haircut. I feel so guilty for Rosie but for Chase…I…I left him” I sob for a few seconds

“I left him at the orphanage, knowing that he was just like me. Not someone that could get along with anyone there. He was bullied and I left him. I thought that it’d be better for him to stay so he wouldn’t be moving all around the place. And I didn’t want him with me. I thought that something would happen to me because of my powers and I thought ‘I shouldn’t get him into this.’ I was scared every day that I was with Rosie. I was scared someone would find out and follow me to her. Hurt her. I feel like I did so many things wrong. I thought that since I was living here, they could be safe, so I brought them here. I want to protect them. I don’t want to mess anything else up.” Liam pulls me into his embrace, and I sob onto his chest.

“You are an excellent mother. You did what you thought was best for your daughter and your brother. Sure, things might not have turned out as planned but they’re here and so are you. You have them with you now and you did keep them safe all these years. They love you because they know that you love them. Because you beautiful, and smart, and funny. I love you, and I know that you are the best mother I know. You didn’t leave them like mine did to me. You visited and looked for them. We love you.” I look up to find him already staring at me. Our eyes connect and he wipes my last tears with the pad of his thumb.

“I love you.” I look from Liam to his chest before resting my face on it and I fall asleep in his arms.

The next morning, I wake up missing Liam. I hear the bedroom door open and look to see Liam walking in with a tray full of food.

“Your awake good. Chase made you breakfast. He said he wanted to come but he was going to training. It’s his first day.” I smile and sit up leaning on the backboard.

“Thank you for bringing it to me.” We eat and when we’re finished, I remember that I needed to go shopping to buy Rosie, Chris, and Chase more clothes.

“Liam, I need to go to the mall today. I need to get more cloth for my boys and my little rose.” Liam growls lowly

“Your boys? Who else besides me?” I giggle hearing him. He is so possessive.

“My boys are Chase and Chris…and Will, but I already bought clothes for him so just Chase and Chris today.” Liam growls again.

“What about me?” Its so cute when he’s Jealous.

“You’re not one of my boys because you’re my man and I only have one of those.” When I finish, I see him smirk and I rolled my eyes at him.

“I’ll ask Will to take me.” I begin to get out of bed, but Liam pulls me back in.

“I’ll go with you. Just me and you. Chris is with Will, Chase is training, and Rosie is at school. I’ll go. Plus, I need a break from paperwork.” I giggle. He always needs a break and leaves it for last minute.

“You need to do your paperwork…what about after we come back, I help you?” He smiles and kisses me. I immediately kiss back.

“I’ll take that as a yes.”

We get ready and head to the mall.

“Liam can you go get me something to drink please. I’ll wait in this store.” He nods and starts to head out.

We already went to many different stores and bought many things, but I saw a few things that I think Liam would like. Some are for him to wear but others are for me. I think he will like the things I got him, but like the things I got for me more.

When I finished paying, I waited at the entrance. Liam was taking a while but then I saw him. He was walking with two trays full of drinks. He’s so caring. Didn’t know what to get so he got more than one. I was about to walk when a guy stepped in front of me.

“Hey Beautiful.” I ignored him and tried to walk past but he grabbed my arm.

“I’m talking to you.” I rolled my eyes and pulled my arm away. I tried to walk but again he stopped me. I got annoyed so I flipped him and walked away. Usually I tell them kindly, but I just wanted to get to Liam right now.

I walked to Liam and smiled. He smiled back and we walked to the car with our many bags and drinks.

Rosie loved her new clothes, Chase like his too and Chris was very grateful he had clothes. His clothes actually got…well it’s a long story.

I still haven’t told Liam I got him stuff. I was thinking of dressing up…Well dressing down, in the clothes I got and covering up with a robe. Show him what I got for him and then we’ll see what happens from there.

I said my Good Nights and told Liam I would wait for him in our room. I took a quick shower, got ready, and set his stuff on the bed.

Liam’s POV

Kate said she would wait for me in our room, so I finished up the last of the paperwork that needed my signature and headed up. She helped me finish all the paperwork I had. I won’t need to do any for at least another 3 days before I’m backed up again so thank you Kate.

I walk in our room and see bags on the bed. I open them and see that its clothes. Then I hear Kate.

“Do you like them?” I turn and see her coming out the closet in only a robe. How I wish I could see what was under that.

“Yes, I like them thank you, love.” I walk to her and kiss her. she kisses back but then I pull away. I don’t want to go to far.

She just stays quiet and then we make eye contact. A few seconds later she begins to take her robe off.

“Kate, what are you doing?” she doesn’t answer and kisses me. She looks so sexy and she’s so close. I don’t think I can help myself.

“Kate…I don’t think I can hold myself back.” She again looks into my eyes before saying

“Then don’t.”

 I don’t know what got into me but after she said that we were off. The night was amazing. I marked her and I felt my life was complete. I love her and now she’s officially mine. A few seconds pass and now she’s biting me as if marking me.

Marking takes a lot of energy out of a person so once she bit me, she fell asleep before I started to feel tired too. I also fall asleep right next to her.

I wake up when I feel pain all over my entire body but its not mine. I turn and see that Kate is screaming is pain. I get out of bed and carry her, running to the pack doctor.

“What’s wrong with her?” I scream. The doctor begins to check on her and then looks at me.

“She’s shifting for the first time, Alpha.”

“WHAT?”
