Chapter 5

Kate’s POV 

Once I finished laughing, I put on a polite smile and said “I’m sorry, I just had to. So, can you take me to Liam. I think we need to talk.” He smiled back and answered     

 “Of course, Luna.” I fake glared at him and I guess he understood because he corrected himself.      

“Sorry, Kate.” He started walking to the stairs and I followed. After a minute he broke the awkward silence.      

“You know Kate, I know a few people we could prank. You’re a good actor so it will be perfect. I’m usually a one-man prankster but because everybody gives it away, so I have to do it alone.” He paused and waited for me to respond and to be honest I was kind of excited to prank other people. Because of my job I couldn’t do it as often and I think this is going to be fun.       

“I think that would be fun. OMG we could be the prankster partners.” I couldn’t hide the excitement in my voice.

I really wanted to make friends with people here. People that got me. I know that witches and wolves aren’t the same, but I haven’t really met any other supernatural creature until now. Well, that I know of. I think I could actually stay. I mean if I really am the Luna, I don’t think they would let me go. And to be completely honest I wanted to stay. I haven’t really seen the rest of the pack, but I just have a feeling like I belong. Something extremely rare for me. One of two places actually. Even though I have made friends, some that are like family, I never felt like, how I do here. The cave helped when I felt like that in my teens, and I felt connected, but I didn’t feel the warmth one feels when a home is truly home. Not like it could be a home, obviously, it is a damn cave. Anyway, it’s only this place that makes me feel that or wherever my daughter is that I feel the sense of warmth and belonging.

‘Of course, you belong here, our mate is here.’ Joule said. I guess I really am a wolf. Can I be both a wolf and a witch I mean I’ve never read about witch wolf hybrids only vampire wolf ones.

“So, Will. Can I call you Will? I’m gonna call you Will.” I pause and turn to him, by this time we are already on the first floor.      

“When can we start pranking, and who? I think after Liam and I discuss the whole mate thing and make arrangements we could go victim hunting.” He grinned, nodded, and then knocked on a door that I didn’t even realize we were in front of.

The smell of coconut came back and I wanted to sniff the air, but I had to resist because that would be kind of weird. All of a sudden, the office door was open, and Liam was right in front of me. He was staring at me for a few seconds but it felt like minutes. I cleared my throat and that’s when Liam was back to reality. I guess I gave him a scare because he started checking for bruises and all of a sudden, I was in his arms and seated on a couch. He then grabbed my leg to check for the cut.        

“What happened to your cut?” he was a little confused but relieved.      

“I healed myself.” He then smiled and sat next to me.

“William you may go and tell James that I will be taking the day off. If he complains just ignore.”     

“Yes Alpha…. Luna.” he bows then leaves. I frown at that because I thought we agreed on Kate. We can’t be prank partners and laugh than change the mood with him calling me Luna.

Liam focuses his attention to me.       

“What is the last thing you remember?”

Liam’s POV

“What is the last thing you remember?” I wanted to know if she remembered what she did, but I didn’t want to remind her. It was too late though because curiosity spoke for me. She thought about it for a while, like she was trying hard to remember. I was about to tell her to forget it when she started to answer my question.

“Well, I remember being attacked…. then a wolf, then you….and, and, and….and then I used my power to” she turned to look into my eyes with an expression of horror and continued.

“I… I killed someone. How could I. I can’t believe I killed someone with my bear hands.” At this point she was in tears staring at her hands. And I now believe that if she ever found out what I did years ago, she would for sure leave.

With this to prove what I suspected, I decided to distance myself from her. She will be the pack’s Luna, but she will just be another girl that sleeps in the pack house for me.

“You will be staying here from now on, but you are not to talk to me unless its needed or if we are in front of the pack. You will also be staying on the same floor as me but in a different room. Do I make myself clear?” She stopped crying and looked at me wide eyed.       

“You don’t want me to interact with you? But I thought…Never mind…Yes its clear.” I could see the hurt in her eyes, and I wanted nothing more than to go and pull her into my embrace, but I can’t. She continued to talk.      

 “OK well, since I’m already here. I’m gonna go shopping later or tomorrow at the mall and I’ll be taking Will with me.” She turned to walk but I held her arm. She can’t just go out when she wants to and not even ask,       

“No, you’re not going anywhere you are not leaving this house.”  I was fuming with anger why is she acting like this.       

“Well, Alpha Liam, I don’t remember asking for permission. I’m going because I said so and that’s that. If you want to try and stop me, you’re more than welcome but just know if you do, I don’t think I will be taking anyone with me and on another note I won’t know what time I’ll be returning.” I let out a growl. Pushed her to the wall     

 “I don’t think that’d be wise of you.” She smirked.       

“Pushing me against the wall wasn’t very wise of You.” Next thing I know I was pushed off her. She leaves and then the rest I don’t remember. When I woke up, I was in my room.

She put me to sleep. How could she. The first thing I did when I woke up was curse at her for what she did, then showered. When I came out of the shower, I found her staring at a picture of James, William, and I from a few years ago. The smile on her face made it hard to be mad at her. But the fact that she thinks she can sleep me and then barge into my room changes that, quickly.

She has the nerve to come and wait for me when she f**k’n put me to sleep. I do feel more relaxed though, I definably needed that but she had no right on doing what she did.

Kate’s POV

                After I put Liam to sleep and, on his bed in his room, I went to look for William. It wasn’t early in the day, but neither was it late so, I asked if he could show me around the pack.

“Before we go, let’s get something to eat. I.am.starving.” he laughed and guided me to the kitchen. Once there he called out to someone named Joe and then a girl came in and bowed saying.  

“Luna.”   She greeted me then focused her attention to Will.       

“Anything I could do for you Gamma.” Will looked at me and said         

“What do you want to eat.” I looked at Will then at the girl, Joe.       

“I’m good with a PB&J but I can make it.” Joe looked at me like I was crazy. I cleared my throat and said.

“Will, I can make it. Just get me the ingredients.”     He shook his head and I glared, which made him sigh in defeat.       

“Fine, just don’t tell Liam.” Joe then nodded and walked away. When she came back, she had a tray with different flavored of Jelly and both crunchy and smooth peanut butter. I whispered to Will “Follow along.”       

He immediately smiled and nodded knowing exactly what I meant. I hope our next victim is ok after this. Looking back at Will’s reaction, I conclude that this will be worse for sure. 

“Joe, right?” I begin.     

“Yes Luna.”       

“Joe, go to the store and buy a different brand of both ingredients and get some bananas out too. Please.” Joe looked at me and then Will. Will gave her a ‘sympathetic’ look. She nodded and was about to walk off when she was called into the kitchen to help.      

“Luna, I must help. It won’t take more than a minute. We are low on helpers today that’s the only reason.”

“Will she isn’t listening to me. Do something. I’m hungry.” I whined. Will turned to look at Joe. She had pleading eyes and then he turned to me again.

“Luna, she must help the others they are short of hands.” I replied with a groan and started saying.

“Both of you have officially made it on the list of lives to make hell.” Will turned to Joe and back to me with a panicked expression.       

“No please Luna.” He got on his knees in front of me with both his palms touching each other and begged.

“I don’t know Will, I already showed mercy to you once and it seems like this wolfy here doesn’t understand. She’s making my anger grow.” He turned to Joe and told her to kneel next to him. Before she could kneel, I started laughing. She looked at me with a disgusted face but then quickly hid it.

“Joe, we’re just messing with you. This is fine you can go help but I do still want that banana oh and a knife.” Will was laughing nonstop.

“Joe you should have seen you face it was priceless.” Will said in between laughs.

Joe was looking at both of us with surprise then went to Will and slapped him.

“Wow. Joe it was my idea.” Will smiled at her and then hit the back of her head.

“Joe here is my sister. Joe meet Kate.”    Joe looked at him like he was crazy. I guess it was because he introduced me as Kate not Luna.

No wonder he became so happy after I told him to follow along. He was gonna prank his sister.

Extending my arm, I said “Nice to meet you Joe….Can you prepare dinner for Liam. Just have it done by 10. I will take it to him when we get back.”

30 minutes Later

 I made my PB&J and one for Will. I don’t just make them normally; I use my powers, so he was mind blown by how good they tasted and how they were made. He showed me all the pack except the woods. We pranked a few people along the way. It was pretty fun. Then I noticed that we had only met a few kids so I asked Will about that and he took me to an orphanage. My heart dropped when I saw all the kids. There were a lot.
