“You are safe, Alex!
There’s nothing in your mind, but thoughts. You are healing.”
Carlos’s cold voice echoed in the room as we watched him in stunned silence. He worked his magic on Alex, calming his panic. His body was still as his breathing evened out, stopping his quivering altogether.
Alpha exhaled sharply, drawing back, the redness in his eyes faded. But the air still hummed with whatever power Alpha had just used.
Derek was the first one from us to recover from this shock. He gasped in disbelief.
“Y-You, did you just compel him?”
Carlos stood, adjusting his cuffs like he hadn’t erased a phantom of someone’s mind.
“Of course!”
“But it’s wrong!” Derek protested openly. “Vampires aren’t supposed to compel humans like that. You …”
