Chapter 67

848 Words
Devon’s hand never leaves mine as we walk back from the clearing. My legs still feel weak after the shift, my skin hot and tingling like the fire hasn’t completely left me. He keeps glancing down at me, protective, worried, but there’s something else burning in his eyes too something I know too well. By the time we reach our room, the tension is thick between us. He closes the door behind us, locks it, and before I can even catch my breath, he pulls me into him. His mouth crashes against mine like he’s been holding back for far too long. I moan into his lips, gripping his shirt and yanking it off him because I don’t have patience anymore. Not tonight. “Addy,” he growls, pressing me to the wall. “You’re driving me insane.” “Then stop holding back,” I whisper, tugging his hair, meeting his hunger with my own. His eyes darken at my challenge. Normally, he tries to control himself, to hold back like I’ll break. But I’m not weak, not anymore, and tonight I’m going to prove it. I push him back with all the strength I can muster, flipping the moment, and his eyes widen when his back hits the door. I climb onto him, kissing him rough, biting his bottom lip until he groans. His hands grip my thighs, holding me up, and I roll my hips against him until I feel the hard length of him pressing into me. “f**k, Addy,” he hisses. “You’re going to regret teasing me like this.” “I can handle you,” I pant, grinding against him harder. “Show me.” He doesn’t need another invitation. He carries me to the bed, tossing me onto it like I weigh nothing. My clothes are gone in seconds, ripped and tossed aside, and then his are too. My skin burns under his touch, but I don’t shy away I drag him down to me, nails raking down his back, leaving marks he’ll feel tomorrow. He thrusts into me hard, filling me in one move, and I gasp, my back arching off the bed. He groans against my neck, holding himself deep inside me like he never wants to let go. “Mine,” he growls. “Yours,” I moan, meeting his thrusts, refusing to let him control the pace. I wrap my legs around him and roll us over so I’m on top, slamming down on him until he curses and grabs my hips. My fire sparks then heat flaring under my skin, glowing faintly against the sheets. The air shimmers, and I see the flames lick at my arms for a second before fading. Devon doesn’t stop. He grips my waist tighter, thrusting up into me, eyes locked on mine with something close to worship. “So f*****g beautiful,” he groans. “Burn for me, Addy.” His words ignite me more than my fire. I ride him harder, faster, the flames sparking again, crawling over my skin, but instead of fear, there’s only his embrace. He doesn’t flinch. His hands trail over my burning skin like it doesn’t hurt him, like he was made for this made for me. The room grows hotter, the sheets damp with sweat, our breaths loud and ragged. He flips me back under him, pinning my wrists above my head, slamming into me with a force that makes me cry out his name. The fire bursts again, brighter, but he kisses me through it, groaning like the heat only makes him hungrier. “More,” I gasp, clawing at him, desperate. He gives me exactly that. Rough, unrelenting, until I’m trembling beneath him, flames sparking wildly, filling the room with an orange glow. He swallows my cries with his mouth, moving deeper, faster, until my body can’t take it anymore. The orgasm tears through me like fire and lightning, making my whole body arch and convulse. Devon follows right after, his roar vibrating against my throat as he spills inside me, holding me so tightly I feel like I’ll shatter. The fire fades slowly, leaving warmth instead of destruction. My skin still glows faintly, my chest heaving as I collapse against him. Devon doesn’t let me go. He rolls us onto our sides, holding me close, his lips brushing my temple. “You didn’t hold back,” he whispers, his voice rough. “Neither did you,” I pant, a small smile tugging at my lips. “Guess we’re even.” He chuckles, low and deep, pressing a kiss to my lips. “I told you, Addy. You’re mine. Flames and all.” I bury my face against his chest, still trembling, not from fear but from the overwhelming rush of being seen, truly seen. My fire didn’t scare him. If anything, it made him burn hotter. For the first time, I believe I don’t have to hide any part of myself with him not my body, not my love, not even the flames that live under my skin.
