Catalina's Comet

Nova

It's been days since I slept in the bed with him. I've been trying to ignore him and stay away but not today. Envy wants us to do a group activity so we're all going to town see the comet that visits every 50 years. It's said that this particular comet is one for the lovers. The townspeople believe that the comet blesses new love every year. I wasn't particularly excited to be doing this but Envy wanted to get out of the house and so did I. So I agreed.

You'll see him...you shouldn't.

I ignored the thought and climbed out of the bed and went to the shower. If Ivan wanted to play games I would play back. I rub myself down with coconut scented soap and scrubbed myself off. I washed my hair and rubbed myself down with lotion before getting out the shower. I walked back into my room and put on my white lace bra and panty set. 

I looked through my suitcase and pulled out my blue sundress and sandals. After I finished getting dressed I put my hair up in messy bun and I added to my outfit my putting on some big hoop earrings. Once I was finished getting dressed I went downstairs to find Envy waiting for me on the couch.

"Well look at you!"

Envy was always so happy in the morning. I smiled and grabbed her arm.

"We ready?"

"Just about. Ivan is gonna meet us there so we can just go now. Let's go outside!"

Pulling me towards the door we both walked outside while the door closed behind us. I looked up at the sky. The sun was shiny bright and the sky clear with little to no clouds. There was a slight breeze and it smelled like salt cause we were so close to the water. The palm trees were swaying slowly as the breeze played within in the leaves. It was a beautiful day to be festive. The driver pulled up and opened the doors for us. We climbed in and drove to town drinking bottomless mimosas and chatting about what we would do when we got to the fair.

"Ferris wheel! Definitely the Ferris wheel!"

"I wanna get cotton candy with a cute guy!"

"Envy!"

I laughed and she smiled mischievously. I couldn't argue with that. I had my own plans for today as well.

"How bout you & Ivan? How's it been since you know...that night you don't speak of?"

She moved her eyebrows up and down and I giggled.

"It was nothing. But it was enough if you know what I mean. I want to talk to him today. So when I see him that's what I'm gonna do."

She smiled softly at me and drank the last of mimosa before pouring another one.

"You guys would be cute together?"

I looked up at her with confusion present on my face.

"Really?"

"Yes of course!"

She smiled and nudged me.

"Just give him a chance."

I smiled and nodded. Drinking the rest of my mimosa and looking out the car window I decided that when I seen Ivan today I would tell him I knew who he was. I would tell him on the Ferris wheel.

Envy

I watched Nova the rest of the car ride. She looked truly content. Like she had finally made a decision.

Had I gotten through to her this quickly?

I kept my gaze on her as she continued to talk about the house. She kept saying how beautiful it was.

"Your library is the best part! At first I thought it was the beach but it was the library!"

I smiled and crossed my legs while nodding.

"Of course you'd like the quietest place in the house."

She looked sheepish as I said this but she continued to talk about how she'd already read 5 of the books from the library and we'd only been there for 4 days. I looked out my window and saw the town. Our driver pulled up to a pier and let us out. I stayed behind to talk to him about what time to pick us up as Nova wandered off to look at something. When I turned around she was holding two candies apples and she was smiling.

"Look what I found!"

Ivan

I got to the festival later than I would've liked. Work has always been a nuisance but it paid the bills. I looked around and spotted the girls about 50 feet away from me. They were taking pictures with a local shaman who seemed to be very interested in Envy's hair color.

I watched them for awhile. They seemed to be completely engulfed in whatever the shaman was saying. I looked around the festival and spotted a bar so I went to sit down. A young woman with a short bob cut & light brown eyes came my way.

"What can I get for you?"

"Hennessy no ice please."

She smiled and went to grab the bottle and a cup.

"A little early for Hennessy isn't it?"

I shrugged and drank it in one swallow.

"Another please."

She poured another cup and then went to grab a cup for herself. She poured her cup and held out glass to me.

"To Catalina"s Comet."

I tapped my glass against hers and threw it back.

"Another?"

I smirked and held out my cup.

"Think you can keep up?"

"Please. I've been doing this way longer."

Nova

7:00 p.m.

I hadn't even noticed it was so late. I'd been walking around taking pictures of some of the townspeople and Envy all day and drinking those cute drinks from the shaman we met earlier. I've been looking for Ivan most of the day. I thought I seen him near the bar area but I wasn't sure. Envy had dipped off with a cute Polynesian boy with blue eyes and insanely curly hair about an hour ago.

I looked out at the water. The wind was blowing softly and I could hear the cry of pigeons close by. I continued to walk along the pier and I heard music playing. I kept waking until I got closer to where the music was playing and I came up on a bonfire. People were slow dancing and holding hands. I looked across the fire and saw Ivan. He was sitting there with his eyes closed nodding his head to the music. He looked different in this light. His skin was shining and his muscles were relaxed. He wasn't wearing a shirt but he had on swimming trunks. He must've been swimming earlier. He opened his eyes and I looked away.

How are you gonna talk to him if you can't even look at him?

When I looked up again he was gone. I stood up and made my way through the crowd of people. Once I got through I seen him. He was standing near a palm tree with his hands behind his back. Behind me I could hear the next song playing.

"...Ivan?"

He lifted his head and turned around.

"Nova."

He didn't look happy about seeing me.

"I..."

He looked at me with confusion starting to spread across his face. It was visible enough for me to tell him never mind.

"I'm sorry. I didn't wanna bother you."

"You aren't. Your silence makes it hard to be around you though."

Taken aback I responded with a harsher tone than I wanted.

"How?"

He smiled and walked close to me.

"It was a joke. What do you need from me?"

I bit my lip and put my hand against his chest, right on his right bicep.

"How did you find me?"

He grabbed my chin and made me look at him while slowly moving my hand from his chest.

"I realized I was being too forward about my intentions with you. I'm sorry if I scared you."

I tried to look away but he kept his eyes on me making me feel self conscious.

"Why me? There are other girls."

"None of those other girls make me want to lose control like you."

It's just s*x that he wants.

"I can't give you what you're looking for. I'm not what you want."

He caressed my face with his fingertips and licked his lips while looking at me.

"I'm a grown man. If I didn't want you. I wouldn't have flagged down your friend to get you."

I gasped. Envy. That's how he found me. I sighed and shook my head.

"Tell me doll....if i don't peak you interest why did you sleep in the bed with me?"

"Because I was afraid."

"But I could've done what I wanted to you and I didn't. If my intentions weren't pure with you when I knew of your identity then why would I have seemed you out? Why would I have comforted you?"

I couldn't let him win this conversation. I couldn't let him get away with invading in my life. And Envy is no better.

"Because you like control. You didn't get to let me decide. I can't be around you. I thought maybe that had changed but if I'm around you...I'll..."

He grabbed my waist and pulled me to him. Not breaking eye contact with me once.

"What will you do lovely? Tell me."

"I'll...I'll.."

Everything feels so wrong. Why can't I speak?

"Tell me Nova."

Hearing him say my name made something in me blaze. It felt like my insides were on fire. I wasn't gonna be to contain what I was feeling right now. I tried to pull away but I realized that I was backed into the palm tree. He was cornering me again. I had to get out.

"Use your words & tell me. Do I scare you?"

"No. No you don't scare me. But if I... if I keep playing this game with you. I'm gonna lose control."

His lips. They were right in front of me. The very things that could cause me to quake in my boots. Are right in front of my face. He got closer. The wind was picking up. I saw a light slowly start to appear in the sky.

"The comet..."

He looked up and we both froze. Catalina's Comet. It was moving through the sky slowly. I pulled out my phone and recorded it. Whatever I was feeling for Ivan would have to wait. I couldn't miss something as beautiful as this. I could Ivan standing behind me holding me against him.

"It's beautiful, isn't it?"

"Very."

Once the comet disappeared from the sky I turned to face Ivan.

"Ivan...I..."

Before I could finish my sentence his lips were on mine. I could hear music playing the background.

He pulled me closer and I could feel his tongue pressing against my lips begging for permission. I let my guard drop and it was over. I lost myself in this moment. Holding on to those song lyrics. He deepened the kiss and he placed one of his hands on my thigh. He didn't go any further he just kept his hand placed there. I was losing myself and I could tell.

Ivan

Her body was shaking. She's so small compared to me. I don't remember picking her up. I just know I'm holding her up against this tree and she's unraveling in my hands. Her hands were wrapped tightly around my neck. I was holding her legs up effortlessly as I continued to kiss her. She tasted like something sweet. Something I couldn't place. I could kiss her all night. I could kiss her all day. Her moans were getting harder and harder to conceal but I stopped caring. I wanted to her. I wanted to hear how I made her feel. She grabbed my hand and placed it over her cookie. She was cute when she was trying to be demanding.

"You have to say it."

She breathed in hard. It was like she was fighting with herself.

"I want you to touch me Ivan.."

I shook my head.

"You know what I like to be called."

She blushed as she realized what I was referring to.

"I want you to touch me..sir.."

I kissed her lips and dragged my finger across her bottom lip. She nipped at my finger and I smiled. Looking in her eyes I took the hand I had planted on her thigh and went up her dress. I pulled her panties to the side as I rubbed her. Her nails found their way into skin at this point and I didn't care. I kept playing with her. I kept her held up and she held onto me. I kissed and sucked on her neck while she released herself all over my fingers over and over again. She knew what I was aiming for, complete and utter exhaustion like before. I wanted her to be so tired that she couldn't moved a muscle the next morning. I pushed her body up further against the tree until she was sitting on my shoulders. I grabbed her hands and pulled them down by her sides.
