Chloe’s POV
While sinking back to the bed, the appetite for s*x was gone, not only in me but in Hunter and somehow I felt bad dragging such a sweet, loving man like him into this mess. Maybe I should have looked well before going into a relationship with Hayden.
“Uhmm.” I sighed, rising up. I wanted to leave. “I want to return back to Kacey’s apartment and never return here.”
“Why?” Hunter’s face dropped.
“Because now he knows I come here, he will come here often and soon might get to plot something bad against us.”
“Like what?” Hunter smirked. My blood boiled. “Listen!” I barked. “Just listen to me please. Besides, I don't wanna place you in any danger. I just don't want you to be fired from here because he managed to link up with the manager or something because of me.”
If only he could see what I was trying to say. Even as Hayden’s stepbrother, I knew pretty much about him.
The more Hunter grinned, turning and twisting his head, doubting, I got even more pissed.
“Hayden has no such power in my club.”
“Urgh?”
“What?”
Confusion set in. “Your club…. like where you work or?”
“I'm the CEO here and right now, I'll message an order to my men to spot him, drive him out and beat him to a pulp should he ever set foot here.”
My legs weakened, I stumbled, falling to the bed. Hunter didn't move, didn't care to ask what's wrong like usual, rather he stood there, folding his arms across his chest, still smirking. Like he knew something.
“Can you remember me now?”
I bashed my forehead, turning my face drowsily. Something happened years ago, during my early days with Hayden, now it was winding back.
It played right before me like a movie. A movie I was forced to watch with the victim I hurt standing right before me like a villain.
Hayden had issues with the owner of this club, an anonymous person, I'd loved him so much that I took sides with him even when I neither knew the owner or what came up between them.
Somehow I took things extreme as revenge on whoever owned here hurting my man that we attended here with our friends, staged some fake drugging and gang r**e scene, videoing it and blackmailing a club almost all women in the city used to love so much. The government called for its demolition labeling it unsafe for people especially women, the potential customers. The owner lost over thirteen million dollars. Only then did my heart get some rest.
Sometimes later, my secret was out. The false report but no one knew who really did it among us, as I thought. Still, the owner wasn't known, even till he erected the club again with the assistance of the government who compensated him.
But seeing Hunter stand like this, staring at me, I knew something was wrong. He knew.
I smiled nervously, turning my face from left to right. I looked for where to hide my face but didn't know where to.
No wonder Hayden came here, he knew it's his brother's place and we could be here. He heard several times how I regretted destroying Eclipse so badly. This was a place I loved so much but went against my passion to take revenge for him.
Now I regretted all those actions. I sank to my knees, weeping profusely. Terror struck me when I lifted my face to look at him and he was still staring at me coldly.
It was at that moment, I realized I needed to run, run far away. Both from Hayden and him. Because he might be here for revenge.
It was night, so I grabbed my clothes, shoes and phone dashing off, running as fast as I could, my heart beating. I'd thought he would pursue me or that his men would but he didn't.
Close to the red at a small bush, I quickly dressed up, sliding in my shoes.
I ran to the road, up to taking the taxi, still no one came after me, not even a stalking car. Which even made it more dangerous. I did such a thing to him and he has been quietly treating me well, and now not even pursuing me?
“It's like he thinks I'll go back to Kacey’s apartment.” I said to myself, laughing at the idea if actually that was it. I was heading to a hotel faraway, then I'll text Kacey to find a job or place for me over there.
I wasn't looking for the money but a big company to develop myself, meet new people, learn new skills and if possible further my studies. I specified this clearly in my text to Kacey, especially the part of it being time flexible to further my studies to PhD level.
I’m a graduate in Ai Technology, the exact industry she's working at. Before now I had never had the thoughts of leaving my state because of Hayden but now I desire this more than anything else.
This will be the only way I'll get to escape both of them.
Miracle turned up for me on the third day of my stay here in the hotel, Kacey replied with good news.
She found a job!
I quickly called her to confirm details. I was more than ready to leave California to another state. Somewhere faraway. While with Hayden and even after, I was working as an Ai Developer, I'd gathered over three million dollars.
If only being a rich woman could stop me from abuse, but it didn't with Hayden. Some people could have told me to go to court, I'm richer than him, my assets will only get cut into half upon our divorce. The exact reason I kept it low key and decided to f**k him at the right time.
Only to realize that while trying to f**k his life up, another man is ready to seek revenge or whatever was in that goddamn mind of his. I wouldn't be able to stay here and figure out what to do. Somewhere far away would be better.
I sighed. By now, the call timer popped up. Kacey was on the line.
“Kacey? What's the job about?” I spoke even before she got to say ‘hello.’ My heart was jumping in my chest.
“This job has been on the website for the past one week but no one is qualified. Seven years experience. Must have earned more than a million dollars.”
“An Ai developer?” I asked.
“Yes, thank God you asked me on time. I registered your name on the wait list. You will need to submit yourself within this week for an interview before someone else gets the job.”
“Woww, okay. Wait a bit. You know I'm not really looking for the money. Can you tell me other benefits?”
“Exactly why I said you're fit for this job, girl.” Kacey uttered in a sing-song manner.
“The company gives an opportunity for further education, network with top AI developers in the world. It's a really big company. And your position is top notch. Senior Ai Developer, Consultant.” She moaned.
“Girl, I'm jealous. Because of you I'll further my studies.”
I chuckled, my laughter ringing with inner excitement.
“Chloe, the job is perfect for you. It’s clean. Good environment to forget about all your troubles. And we will be together again.”
The third reason I really wanted to go. I didn't waste my time in getting stuff I'll need, clothes, shoes and everything. I paid the cops to pick my documents and other valuables at Kacey’s apartment.
Yes, this was a special service. I didn't want to meet Hunter, probably because I felt too guilty or would be nervous to meet him.
I'd already booked a flight. By tomorrow morning I was supposed to be in New York, Kacey had sent the address of the company and all details. She was going to pick me up.
That night at the hotel by the airport, I wasn't myself. While part of me was excited, I was gone from the men after my life, the other was nervous as I'd never done an office job before, but I've been working from home.
It wasn't up to 6 AM, Kacey had arrived, knocking on my door. “Come on, girl. It's me.” Her sweet voice rang from the door. By this time, I'd already dressed up, prepared, as I didn't know how long it would take to arrive at the company. I'd like to be there on time.
I rushed towards the door, unbolting and jumping straight into her arms. “Good morning darling,” I greeted with a kiss on her cheek.
She turned around, twirling with me. “Good morning hun. I can see you're ready to come with me?”
“Yes darling, so excited.” I moaned as she dropped me.
She waited as I rushed to gather my documents into my handbag and pick my phone from the table. “I guess I'll be staying in your apartment if I'm taken till I get one for myself?”
“No, you don't have to worry about that. The boss has accommodations made for all staff. He's a multi-billionaire, so handsome, charming and……” She threw her head up, shaking with blissful eyes and a smile downloaded straight from a fantasy world.
“Guess you've met with him before?” I asked, wishing to know what the boss would look like.
“Yes, but only for a day. He was introduced to us. He has several companies worldwide so it's his turn to be steady at Erux Ai.”
“That's the company name right?”
“Yes.” Kacey nodded.
We got into her car for a drive to the company but all our talk was on the CEO, though she knew pretty less about him, yet the way she pressed him made him sound like a good person.
This time I wanted to relate with a man for work. Romance was out of the picture, Hayden and Hunter had taught me great lessons. I'd just escaped these two and guessed nothing would ever make me get into their trap again.
I settled on the side front seat, enjoying the view of the beautiful, tall, glass skyscrapers in New York City. I'd been seeing them in the media, now I was getting to see them in reality. Talking of the beautiful landscape, so beautiful.
“A change of environment is indeed good, not mainly because of them.” I uttered.
“Yeah girl.” Kacey said, focusing on the road before her.
A message suddenly got into my phone. I peered. It was Hunter.
“Urgh?”
“What's that?” Kacey purred.
“A guy who has been disturbing me from LA just messaged.”
“And you're scared? Come on, you left there.”
I heaved. “Well that's true but I didn't even get to check the message.”
It was a picture.
I tapped on it, grabbing my chest. “What could it be, oh God.” I wondered.
When the picture came up, it was that of me at the airport and the most recent, stepping out of the hotel with Kacey.
“You think you can escape me? You can't, except if you give me what I want, then I'll leave you alone.”
“What the hell?” My lips blew a sudden scream, my head suddenly aching fell on Kacey’s laps. She shrieked in terror, grabbing the phone from me. I never told her about Hunter, I didn't want to bother her.
“What does he want now?” I screamed so hard.
“I thought he was there to protect me as a biker, not knowing he was stalking me all along for years.” I wept. He had his own motives.
A lovemaniac or still after revenge, I couldn't tell but my chest was going to explode any moment from now.
“Ask him what he wants?” Kacey barked as she returned the phone to me. I sat up, nodding quite slowly.
“Exactly what I need to do.”
Right away I did. Even if it's half of my money I'll give just so he can leave me alone. I was scared up to the extent he followed me. How did he even know I'd come here but that wasn't the best remedy now.
A few minutes later he replied.
I shut my eyes, opening slowly to view it.
“You will be my s*x slave for 365 days, I can use you as I wish, only then can I forgive you for what you did to me. Deal?”
“But I hired you as my strip….. “ I didn't know what to say.
“Yes or no?” He snapped.
“And what if I say No?” I texted back, crossing my fingers. “You want your money back, I can work and give it to you.”
“Not at all, I want you.”
He was serious. I'd just fallen into a big mess.
