I treated my assistant to breakfast at the austere Cereal Café, which turned out to be a mistake. As the old saying goes, no good deed goes unpunished. I knew the place was pretty basic and lacked ambience, but that wasn’t what bothered her. “This is not a proper breakfast for you,” Lara snapped, her dark eyes flashing. I shook my head. “Works just fine for me. I can’t eat much in the morning.” My sinus congestion was worse then. Of course, it didn’t help that I’d had my nose broken when I wrestled in high school and again during my service in the Marines.
