WRAPPED AROUND HER PINKIE (DANTE)

The room was silent. The kind of silence that dripped with power, waiting for a command. Twenty men sat around the long, mahogany table, their faces illuminated by the dim chandelier above. These weren’t just any men. These were my men. Ruthless, deadly, and loyal to the bone. I leaned back in my chair, tapping my fingers against the polished wood. The air was thick with anticipation, every eye trained on me. “Mr. Leonardo is dead.” My voice was cold, void of emotion. “That means the security at the East Border is compromised.” A murmur rippled through the room. Not from shock—no, these men had seen worse. It was from understanding. I leaned forward, resting my elbows on the table. “Until the city’s mafia leaders come to a decision, we take control. No one moves in or out of those borders without our knowledge.” My gaze swept across the room. “Anyone caught smuggling, betraying, or even thinking of crossing us—deal with them. No second chances.” There were nods, some smirks. They liked orders. They liked blood. Aaron, my second-in-command, raised an eyebrow. “And if the other leaders protest?” I smirked. “Then they can take it up with me.” Aaron grinned. He liked when things got messy. “Assign the teams.” I stood, buttoning my jacket. “I want reports every six hours. Dismissed.” Chairs scraped against the floor as the men stood and left, some exchanging quiet words, others already planning their next move. But I wasn’t done for the night. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fifteen minutes later, I walked into the underground tech room. It was dark, filled with the hum of machines and glowing screens. The scent of coffee and something metallic lingered in the air. Behind a massive array of monitors, Xavier leaned back in his chair, spinning a pen between his fingers. “Boss,” he drawled, not looking away from his screen. “To what do I owe the pleasure?” I tossed a small black device onto his desk. “I need this planted in a place where she won’t see it.” Xavier raised an eyebrow, picking up the device and inspecting it. “Zanya’s place?” I didn’t answer. I didn’t need to. He let out a low whistle. “You do realize she’s sharp as hell? If she finds this, she’s going to take it apart before you can blink.” “That’s why you’re doing it,” I said simply. Xavier chuckled. “You really are wrapped around her pinkie, aren’t you?” I gave him a blank stare. “Are you done talking?” He laughed, shaking his head. “Nah, just enjoying seeing the great Dante Cap—” He cut himself off when I narrowed my eyes. “Alright, alright. I’ll get it done. But this? This is obsession, man.” I ran a hand through my hair. “Distance makes the heart grow fonder, right?” I smirked. “Mine just grows more possessive.” Xavier muttered something under his breath but got to work. I watched as he tapped away at his keyboard, pulling up the blueprints of Zanya’s apartment. My jaw clenched as I saw how little security she had. She was too exposed. Too vulnerable. I’d fix that soon enough. But for now, I’d watch. And when the time was right… I’d claim her.
