Chapter 10 Mission begins(2)

Three days went by since I came to the lord's castle . I searched the drawing room thoroughly but I didn't find a single clue about that darned artifact there.

Which means the information Elias gave me was wrong or did he intentionally do that but it does not matter as Alina did say that the information was not confirmed and that I should find that out.

Ah I don't know , whatever. I then began to search the other rooms of that castle but still got no results regardless.

I have been sneaking here and there around the castle but thank goodness they did no one managed notice me or even care about it.

Since I'm a little child , they don't seem to know of my presence and that's good news to me and I found the reason they keep on hiring new people every three month. Apparently the lord sacrifices ten people every new moon.

I was thinking that they might really use me for that so called sacrifice but they did not which was lucky of me.

The reason he does those sacrifices is to make him invincible and immortal or something as such ; it is like sorcery or black magic.

I have seen documents of his plans from his room and to be frank I think he really has gone nuts as everything that was mentioned did not make sense to me.

I have met him once when I was weeding out wild grass in the garden and he looked young but he was as fat as a pig with weeds like hair ,and greed and lust was filled in his small rat-like eyes when watching the maids.

And his absurd sense of fashion. He disgusted me , and I wondered if he was a fake or not. But then how would that be possible.

Well not that I care but I only have two days left to complete this forsaken mission. So I should hurry up.

If I'm not wrong , Nick must be around watching my every move since he's like my monitor but I kind of hate it since I get a piercing and chilling feeling ever time I feel a pair of eyes on me.

In a dark room, Elias received the report that she managed to sneak in the mansion and is progressing well according to Nick.

He felt proud for no reason and thought of going there personally to oversee what she was doing in that place.

'Well if she is my niece, how should I break that news to her. Will she be happy, disappointed, angry or will she feel nothing at all', thought Elias diligently as he cleaned his blood filled hands.

He felt better just thinking about her. And he would probably even forgive and show mercy to his enemy if the results turn out to be positive.

Anyways it's time to check the lord's office room. That's the only place I had yet to check because the security was quite tight near this place and there were several knights guarding the door to the study but this time I came prepared for this situation.

I put sleeping pills in a drink and went near them with my perfect acting.

"Would you sirs like to drink something? I thought you might be tired so I brought some fruit juice for you brave sirs."

They looked at me and looked at each other . Then one of them answered with a kind, friendly smile.

"Why not little lass, thank you for your kind consideration."

'Consideration my ass, I am drugging you and you are thanking me but well', thought I as a glint of savageness passed through my eyes, but none of them noticed it.

I went back and came ten minutes later, after I confirmed that they were sleeping soundly and not waking up, I went close to the door and opened it as gently as I could.

And it opened with a creak, that made me remember those scenes where the person who opens these doors in horror movies ends up losing their lives or they are sent to the mental asylum for losing their minds.

It was dark and stuffy inside, I could not see a thing. It also gave off a terrifying vibe which made my body tremble slightly due to fear of not knowing what was awaiting for me inside.

'No , I should think positively. What could possibly go wrong, I mean the lord isn't even in the office right now as he usually goes to sleep early after having fun with his slutty concubines '.

I went inside slowly with careful steps and turned on the lamp that I had brought and looked around the dark and eerie room that looked lavish yet simple.

I checked the drawers , the bookshelves and every nook and cranny of the lavish yet creepy room but I still didn't find anything that could serve as clue for knowing of the existence of the artifact.

I was puzzled but it felt strange for some reason and I was having a feeling that something very bad is going to happen.

So I increased my wariness and guard up, to prevent myself from falling into a stupid or planned plot.

'Where could it possibly be , if it was not here. Maybe it was not in this mansion and somewhere else', I thought while still being perplexed.

At that moment I heard a creaking noise coming from the statue that was near the bookshelf.

I looked at it for a second and it struck me that it is normally near the statue that there would be a hidden mechanism that activates the entrance of a secret and mysterious room.

I had once watched it in a historical drama.

' Why didn't I think of that ?' thought I as I went near the dragon like statue and started looking for the hidden mechanism and pressed its tail accidently.

Unexpectedly I pressed the activated the right trigger and an ancient-looking hidden space was revealed.
