CHAPTER 15 The early morning rays had moments before crept over the mountain top when Chaco studied the Sun through his Coronado SolarMax Double Stack. It would probably be the last time he’d use either of his telescopes. Both were too large and unwieldy for the trip ahead. He’d spent the entire evening before alternating between guard duty, scoping out the road through his binoculars, and scanning the night sky through his Takahashi Mewlong 300 with a MS-5 Mount. Combined, the two telescopes and mounts had cost him a fortune. They’ll rust here, become broken things, useful only as homes for spiders and earwigs.
