Riley leaned back against the couch, her fingers intertwined with Alistair’s as they both sat in comfortable silence. The past few weeks had been a whirlwind, an unpredictable shift from being just neighbors who occasionally clashed to now being husband and wife. If someone had told her a few months ago that this would be her reality, she would have laughed in disbelief. She glanced at Alistair, who was staring at their intertwined hands with a small smile playing on his lips. “What are you thinking?” she asked softly. He exhaled, shaking his head slightly. “Just… how did we get here? One minute, you were the woman next door who always found ways to frustrate me, and now you’re my wife.” She chuckled, nudging him playfully. “You mean, I was the woman you couldn’t stop thinking about?”
