*chapter 2: The Dropout*
Three silhouettes burst from the side of the building like bats from a cave — masks on, guns down, adrenaline spilling. The alley behind them flared white from the muzzle flash of a guard who wasn’t supposed to be there.
"GO, GO!" Torque shouted.
Leo slammed the shift into drive. The Valen S-9 leapt forward like a bullet, tires screaming against pavement.
The back door flung open. *Blaze* dove in first — tall, lean, sweaty as hell. She tossed a duffel bag forward, half-zipped, filled with what looked like platinum chips and carbon stacks. The others piled in fast. Torque pulled the door shut just as bullets pinged off the trunk.
"Drive, Pulse!" Torque yelled.
Leo didn’t answer. He just *moved*.
The car shot out of the alley into a main road, narrowly missing a delivery drone that skidded sideways and burst into sparks.
Sirens wailed behind them.
“Ten seconds to intercept,” Blaze said, breathless, eyes scanning her hacked wrist display. “High-speed patrol inbound. We need to—"
Leo cut her off. “I see it.”
He veered hard left — into incoming traffic.
"s**t, kid!" Torque shouted, gripping the ceiling.
Leo grinned. The song in his ears peaked. The timing was perfect.He weaved through oncoming cars like he was playing a video game on cheat mode. The Valen slid, danced, spun half sideways, then straightened without losing a second. The patrol drone ahead didn’t even catch his plate.
Behind them, sirens multiplied.....
