[Adelaide Knowles] Christian pulls his chair back, eyes trained on my triumphant grin, his arms folded and his glasses laying next to the pile of reports as I attempt to put some distance between us. He doesn’t stop me this time, rather, he watches as I wear his jacket over me, his eyes twitched with restrained happiness? Or not, but I don’t care since he’s refused to let me go and I was tired of eating, reading, sleeping and counting ceilings. My mind pushes back on the triumphant bit. On the fact that I just realized he smiled and even laughed when he was with me. It was sort of a rare opportunity to see him smile in a way so bright, you could almost count a thousand splendid suns in them. I thought he needed to give caution when he smiles, yet, I knew I would mortgage my life savings
