UNDERWORLD ARC
Chapter 11: Typhon's Roar
The Underworld had fallen into chaos.
Smoke rose from burning cities.
Buildings crumbled beneath the weight of the invasion.
The peaceful streets Hades and Persephone had spent six months rebuilding were now battlefields littered with rubble and fire.
The deafening cries of terrified civilians echoed through the realm.
Demons and undead flooded every district like a plague.
Hades stood atop a broken section of the Persephone Bridge, calmly observing the destruction.
His usual carefree smile had disappeared.
For once...
His expression was serious.
Beelzebub landed beside him, his spear already stained with the blood of invading demons.
"My Lord!"
"The western district has already fallen!"
"The eastern cities are barely holding!"
Persephone looked at Hades.
"What do we do?"
Hades closed his eyes for a brief moment.
When he opened them again...
His decision had already been made.
"Beelzebub."
"Yes, my Lord."
"Take Perseph."
"And gather every member of the Enforcement Corps."
"Protect the civilians."
"Drive the invaders away from the cities."
Beelzebub frowned.
"...And you?"
Hades looked toward the enormous floating fortress rising from the center of the split earth.
"I'm ending this."
"Once..."
"And for all."
Beelzebub hesitated.
"My Lord..."
"Going alone may be reckless."
Hades looked at him and smiled.
"Beelzebub."
"...Who's standing in front of you?"
Beelzebub answered immediately.
"You."
Hades nodded.
"Exactly."
"So stop worrying."
"I'll erase anyone who threatens the peace we've all worked so hard to build."
He glanced toward the burning city.
"...Perhaps..."
"...that's my duty as its guardian."
Those words struck Beelzebub deeply.
Not king.
Not conqueror.
Guardian.
Hades then turned toward Persephone.
Before he could speak—
She narrowed her eyes.
"No."
Hades blinked.
"...No?"
"I already know what you're about to say."
"'Don't worry.'"
"'Stay safe.'"
"'I'll be back before dinner.'"
She folded her arms.
"I'm tired of hearing those lines."
Hades scratched his cheek.
"...Fair."
Persephone reached into the Divine Bag.
Golden light flashed.
A beautifully crafted weapon emerged.
Atlas' gift.
The Divine Bident.
She held it toward him.
"I've carried it with me this whole time."
"I kept it compressed so it wouldn't get in the way."
She smiled.
"This time..."
"I'm not going to tell you to solve everything peacefully."
Her expression hardened.
"Brute force..."
"...is officially allowed."
Hades couldn't help laughing.
"Finally."
"Music to my ears."
He accepted the Bident.
The weapon instantly expanded to its true size.
Divine energy surged through the three-pronged spear.
Hades rested it across his shoulder.
"I won't keep you waiting."
Beelzebub nodded.
"I'll protect everyone until you return."
"I know you will."
Persephone gently grabbed Hades' hand for a brief second.
"Come back."
He smiled.
"I always do."
Without another word...
He walked away.
---
Beelzebub gathered the frightened civilians.
The Enforcement Corps quickly organized evacuation routes.
Persephone moved among the wounded, using divine blessings to heal those she could.
As they watched Hades disappear into the distance...
Beelzebub sighed.
"I still don't understand him."
Persephone smiled knowingly.
"What do you mean?"
"He walks toward the greatest battle of his life..."
"...with his hands behind his head."
As if proving his point—
Far ahead...
Hades casually strolled down the ruined road.
Both hands rested behind his head.
He was whistling.
Like a man taking an evening walk.
Not someone marching into war.
Persephone laughed softly.
"That's just..."
"...who Hades is."
---
The floating fortress loomed overhead.
Dark clouds gathered around its towering spires.
Thousands of demons surrounded its entrance.
Hades stopped.
He looked upward.
"...You know."
He rubbed the back of his neck.
"I really don't like looking up."
He lifted the Divine Bident.
Twisted his body slightly.
Then—
He threw it.
BOOOOOOOOOOM!!
The Bident shot through the sky like a divine comet.
It pierced straight through the center of the floating fortress.
For one heartbeat...
Nothing happened.
Then—
The entire castle exploded.
Its foundations shattered.
Massive towers collapsed.
Walls crumbled into countless pieces.
The once-floating fortress plummeted toward the earth.
KRRRRRRAAAAAAASH!!
The impact shook the entire Underworld.
Dust rose like a tidal wave.
When it finally settled...
The magnificent fortress had become nothing more than ruins.
Hades smiled to himself.
"There."
"Now I won't get neck cramps."
---
As he approached the destroyed castle...
A familiar figure stood waiting at the broken gates.
Lucifer.
He slowly applauded.
"Wonderful."
"Absolutely wonderful."
He grinned.
"Welcome, Hades."
Hades yawned.
"Can we skip the compliments?"
Lucifer chuckled.
"Ye know why ye here."
"But..."
He spread his arms dramatically.
"Me da final boss."
"So ye no fit reach me just yet."
He pointed toward the darkness beyond the gates.
"Beat me army first."
"If ye survive..."
"Me tell ye everything."
"And finally..."
"...me achieve me dream."
His body slowly dissolved into black mist.
"See ye at de finale."
He vanished.
Hades sighed deeply.
"...What a pain."
He stepped into the ruined fortress.
Immediately—
An overwhelming pressure crashed down upon him.
The air itself became heavy.
The castle trembled.
A monstrous roar echoed throughout the darkness.
ROOOOOOOOOAAAAARRRRR!!
The walls burst apart.
A colossal creature emerged.
Its body resembled an enormous serpent.
Gigantic wings stretched across the sky.
Hundreds of dragon heads writhed wildly from its body while countless tentacle-like limbs coiled beneath it.
Its mere presence dwarfed the ruined castle.
Far away...
Even Beelzebub and the others stopped fighting.
"W-What..."
"...is that?"
Beelzebub whispered.
Typhon.
The primordial monster born from Gaia and the Underworld itself.
One of the oldest beings in existence.
The monster slowly lowered one of its countless heads.
"I..."
Its voice echoed like thunder.
"...am Typhon."
"The Destroyer."
"The Dominator."
"The One destined to rule all creation—"
"Blah."
Typhon stopped talking.
"...What?"
"Blah."
"Blah."
"Blah."
Hades lazily waved a hand.
"Can we skip the introduction?"
"I'm getting bored."
He pointed toward Typhon.
"Fight me."
"...Or are you scared?"
Every dragon head roared at once.
The entire Underworld trembled.
"YOU..."
"...DARE?!"
Typhon's aura exploded.
Its body rapidly expanded.
More dragon heads emerged.
Its tentacles multiplied.
Soon...
Its enormous body towered above mountains themselves.
The monster's shadow covered nearly half the Underworld.
Even from miles away...
Everyone could see it.
Beelzebub swallowed nervously.
"I..."
"I've never felt power like this..."
Meanwhile...
Hades simply stood there.
Hands behind his head.
Still whistling.
Typhon nearly lost his mind.
"I SHALL ERASE EVEN YOUR DUST!!"
Hades yawned.
"You done?"
"Can we fight now?"
Typhon roared.
"PERISH!!"
Suddenly—
An unimaginable force crushed downward.
"Five Hundred Gravity Falls!"
The very laws of gravity multiplied hundreds of times.
Mountains collapsed instantly.
The battlefield sank deep into the earth.
The ground shattered under the overwhelming weight.
Typhon laughed triumphantly.
"HAHAHAHA!!"
"NOW DIE!!"
Several moments passed.
Then...
A calm voice echoed from beneath the crater.
"...Hey."
Typhon blinked.
"Could you..."
"...shift the pressure a little?"
"My left shoulder's been sore since yesterday."
Silence.
Hades' voice continued.
"I think I slept funny."
He sighed.
"Probably because Perseph stole all the pillows again."
"I swear..."
"She was supposed to take care of me."
"But somehow..."
"I keep taking care of her."
"I'll definitely complain when I get back."
Typhon's eye twitched.
"...Are..."
"...you mocking me?"
Hades slowly stood up beneath the crushing gravity.
"...No."
He stretched his shoulder.
"I'm actually feeling better."
Then—
He disappeared.
The gravity field shattered behind him.
Typhon looked around frantically.
"...Where?"
A voice spoke beside his ear.
"I've trained under much stronger gravity."
"This..."
"...is child's play."
Typhon turned.
Hades was casually sitting on one of his enormous dragon heads.
His legs dangled freely.
He looked completely relaxed.
Typhon roared in fury.
"THEN DIE WITH THIS!"
Every dragon head opened its mouth simultaneously.
Lightning.
Fire.
Plasma.
Infernal energy.
All converged into one overwhelming attack.
"Planetary Devastation—Burning Thunderclap!!"
A blinding beam engulfed everything.
The explosion vaporized mountains.
Rivers evaporated.
Even solid rock melted instantly.
The entire Underworld shook violently.
Typhon laughed.
"HAAAAAA!!"
"NOT EVEN YOU COULD SURVIVE—"
"...That was close."
Typhon froze.
Slowly...
He looked toward his shoulder.
Standing there...
Completely unharmed...
Was Hades.
He dusted off his clothes.
"If that had actually hit me..."
"I might've been in trouble."
He smiled.
"Maybe."
Typhon completely lost control.
Every dragon head attacked wildly.
Tentacles smashed everything nearby.
Lightning rained from the sky.
Firestorms consumed entire mountains.
The battlefield became absolute chaos.
Meanwhile...
Hades calmly dodged every attack.
One step.
One sidestep.
One jump.
One parry.
Almost like he was dancing.
Eventually...
He landed atop a floating chunk of broken stone.
"...I'm getting bored."
He bent his knees.
Then—
BOOOOOOOM!!
The force of his leap completely obliterated the rock beneath him.
In an instant...
He reached Typhon.
One punch.
Nothing more.
His fist connected with the monster's main head.
CRAAAAAACK!!
Typhon's gigantic head separated cleanly from its body.
Silence.
The severed head flew through the sky.
Typhon blinked.
"...Huh?"
He looked around in confusion.
"...Why..."
"...is everything upside down?"
He noticed something strange below.
His body...
...was still standing.
Without a head.
"...Wait."
"...That's..."
"...my body?"
Realization struck.
"...No."
"...Impossible..."
"I..."
"...the mighty Typhon..."
"...defeated..."
"...with one punch?"
His eyes widened.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!"
The colossal head crashed into the earth.
The impact echoed throughout the realm.
The mighty Typhon...
Was dead.
Hades landed calmly.
He stretched.
"...Well."
"That was easier than expected."
Without another glance at the fallen monster...
He continued walking deeper into the ruined fortress.
A lone figure waited ahead.
Arms folded.
Golden eyes burning with hatred.
Azazel.
The Second General of Lucifer.
He slowly smiled.
"I've been waiting for you..."
"Hades."
Hades smiled back.
"Good."
"I was hoping the next one would be stronger."
The air grew heavy once again.
Their battle...
Was about to begin.
