ARC ONE: BIRTH OF THE KING
Chapter 4: Beelzebub vs. Hades
The battlefield vanished beneath a deafening explosion.
BOOM!!
A shockwave ripped through the ruined marketplace as Hades reappeared directly in front of Beelzebub.
"So fast—!"
Before the demon could react—
CRAAASH!!
Hades' fist buried itself into Beelzebub's stomach.
The impact folded the fallen angel in half before launching him across the city.
He smashed through one stone wall.
Then another.
A third.
By the time he tore through the eighth wall, half the district had collapsed behind him.
Dust and debris filled the air.
Beelzebub coughed violently.
"W-What..."
He barely had time to steady himself.
A chill suddenly crawled down his spine.
Behind him...
A familiar voice echoed.
"You still alive?"
Beelzebub's eyes widened.
He spun—
Too late.
Hades was already there.
With one swift motion, he drove a devastating kick into Beelzebub's back.
BOOOOOOM!!
The fallen angel was launched straight into the heavens like a meteor.
The force alone split the clouds.
A massive mushroom-shaped explosion bloomed high above Mount Othrys.
Miles away, countless Titans looked toward the sky in disbelief.
"What was that?"
"The prince..."
"Is that Prince Hades?!"
Beelzebub came crashing back to earth.
CRAAASH!!
The ground shattered beneath him, forming an enormous crater.
He struggled to breathe.
Several ribs had been broken.
Blood trickled from his mouth.
Hades landed gracefully on the edge of the crater.
He rested his glowing saber on his shoulder.
"You know..."
He smiled.
"I was expecting someone called the Lord of Flies to put up a better fight."
Beelzebub slowly rose.
His crimson eyes burned with fury.
"You..."
"You dare mock me?"
"I've been doing it since we met."
"You insolent child!"
Dark green energy erupted around the fallen angel.
Thousands of grotesque insects gathered above his outstretched hand.
"PLAGUE ART—INSECT BULLET STORM!"
The swarm compressed into countless hardened projectiles.
The insects screamed through the air like arrows.
Hades calmly exhaled.
"So that's your answer."
He raised his saber.
CLANG!
CLANG!
CLANG!
His blade blurred.
Each swing intercepted dozens of insects.
The creatures exploded upon contact, sending fiery bursts throughout the ruined marketplace.
Buildings that had survived the earlier battle were finally reduced to rubble.
The last projectile exploded behind Hades.
Smoke drifted across the battlefield.
Beelzebub smiled.
"Your speed..."
"I've figured it out."
The instant Hades disappeared—
Beelzebub swung his claw toward the empty space beside him.
"I've got you!"
But...
Nothing was there.
His eyes widened.
"What?!"
A voice whispered behind him.
"You were looking the wrong way."
Before Beelzebub could turn—
SLASH!!
Hades' saber carved across his back.
Blood sprayed into the air.
The fallen angel roared in pain.
Hades never stopped moving.
Like a streak of white lightning, he flashed around Beelzebub faster than the eye could follow.
Left.
Right.
Above.
Below.
Every direction.
The demon could only watch helplessly.
"Too slow."
SLASH!
"Way too slow."
SLASH!
"You should've picked option one."
SLASH!
"I would've let you go."
The final s***h sent Beelzebub crashing onto one knee.
Blood dripped from dozens of deep wounds.
Hades pointed his saber toward him.
"My turn."
He disappeared once more.
Beelzebub clenched his fists.
The prince appeared directly in front of him.
His sword became a blur.
"HUNDRED CUTS!"
One s***h.
Ten.
Twenty.
Fifty.
The battlefield echoed with the sound of steel slicing flesh.
SHING! SHING! SHING! SHING!
Within seconds...
One hundred precise sword strikes landed across Beelzebub's body.
The final s***h erupted in a violent shockwave.
BOOOOOOM!!
The fallen angel was thrown across the crater.
His battered body rolled to a stop.
Silence.
For several moments...
Neither warrior moved.
Hades lowered his sword.
"...Is it over?"
Beelzebub lay motionless.
Then...
He laughed.
"...Heh..."
"...Hahaha..."
"...HAHAHAHA!!"
Dark energy leaked from his wounds.
Hades frowned.
"That's usually not a good sign."
Beelzebub slowly stood.
His entire body trembled.
Not from fear...
But from rage.
"You..."
"...have reminded me..."
"...of humanity."
His voice became strangely calm.
"They smile."
"They laugh."
"They mock suffering."
"They destroy everything they touch."
His eyes became distant.
As memories resurfaced.
---
Long ago...
Before becoming the Lord of Flies...
Beelzebub had been one of Heaven's greatest angels.
Alongside the angel Lilith, he had been entrusted by the Supreme Creator with watching over humanity.
They descended to Earth.
To a struggling town consumed by famine, disease, and despair.
Unlike Beelzebub...
Lilith's heart overflowed with compassion.
She secretly used her divine power to save them.
The dying fields bloomed.
The hungry were fed.
The sick were healed.
Within a few short years...
The town prospered.
Beelzebub smiled for the first time in centuries.
Perhaps...
Humanity deserved hope after all.
But that hope didn't last.
As prosperity grew...
So did arrogance.
The people abandoned kindness.
They oppressed the weak.
They worshipped themselves instead of the Creator.
Greed replaced gratitude.
Pride replaced humility.
When judgment finally came...
Lilith alone was punished.
For interfering with the natural order.
Her divinity was stripped away.
She was cast onto the very world she had saved.
She begged humanity for help.
They mocked her.
Ignored her.
Left her to starve.
She died alone.
Broken.
Abandoned.
Beelzebub clenched his fists.
He demanded answers from the Supreme Creator.
"Why punish the one who showed mercy?"
The Creator answered calmly.
"She acted against My will."
"Those people were already facing the consequences of their own sins."
"Compassion without wisdom invites greater destruction."
Beelzebub couldn't accept it.
His faith shattered.
His grief became hatred.
When Lucifer raised the banner of rebellion...
Beelzebub followed.
Not for power.
Not for glory.
But because he had come to believe that humanity was a plague unworthy of salvation.
---
The memories vanished.
Beelzebub slowly raised his head.
"You fight with a smile..."
"...just like they did."
His aura exploded.
BOOOOOOM!!
Black insect wings burst from his back.
Razor-sharp claws extended from his hands.
Monstrous fangs tore through his lips.
His body became leaner...
More terrifying.
The swarm surrounding him multiplied until the sky itself darkened.
Even Hades' smile faded.
"Oh..."
"So you weren't serious before."
Beelzebub's crimson eyes glowed like burning coals.
"No..."
He lowered himself into a battle stance.
"I was merely warming up."
The ground beneath him exploded.
In an instant—
He appeared before Hades.
His speed had doubled.
Hades barely raised his sword in time.
KRAAAAAANG!!
The collision shook the entire marketplace.
The sheer force hurled Hades backward like a cannonball.
He crashed through the ruins before skidding across the ground, carving a trench hundreds of meters long.
Dust swallowed everything.
Beelzebub stood silently, his monstrous wings spread wide.
For the first time since activating his divine power...
Hades had been overpowered.
The battle...
Had entered its deadliest phase.
