1. Party

Part-1 Amber’s POV Feeling tired, I entered my room and threw my bag on the sofa. I blew some air and rested my head on the bed muttering, “Please someone, get me a glass of water.” It's not easy to work as a managing director in a big firm and that too when your boss is wicked. Sometimes I wish to throw my resignation letter at his arrogant face and leave his company but the next second I recall that I have to clear my dues and most importantly I need to manage my day-to-day expenses. Despite not wanting to stay in that company, I need to. Also, my boss, Mr. Blake is not that bad. Yes, the thing is different in that he makes us work like a donkey, and always throws us under the bus, and most importantly he hates mistakes, not to forget he hates lazy people. How did I forget that he is a womanizer? But then, why do I feel the last statement is a rumor? I have never seen him with any female. Also, he never made me uncomfortable around him. He always showed respect towards me. Gosh! Am I complaining? No, I am not. I am only clearing the facts about him. Such a workaholic asshole he is. Nothing else! I mentally slapped my cheeks and shook my head in frustration, reminding myself that I needed juice to recover my energy. I was about to stand but not getting enough motivation, I pouted and closed my eyes. I wish to get a magician who can just snap a finger and bring things in front of my eyes. To my surprise, a few seconds later, a glass of water appeared in front of my eyes. Woah! A magician appeared in front of me. I excitedly lifted my head, only to my beloved cousin standing before me. I immediately stood and hugged her, forgetting my exhaustion. “You are finally back. I love you so much,” I exclaimed. “You have no idea, how much I missed you,” I added, unable to contain my happiness to myself. “Easy girl! I am straight. I am not interested in women,” She said, acting to free herself. I am sure, she must be rolling her eyes and twitching her nose. “Shut up,” I broke the hug, and made her sit at the bed, “Tell me you missed me or not? And most importantly what you brought for me from Albany?” “Nothing!” She curled her lips and stood crossing her arms around her chest. “Why should I even get something from you? You dumbass forgot me for the whole month.” “No calls, messages,” she added, “and now seeing me, you are saying that you missed me. Not to forget, instead of asking how I am, you are asking for a gift.” “Good joke,” she shrugged, turning her face away from me. “Shut up! Tell me how you suddenly managed to come here?” I sighed observing her dramatic acts. She must be here with some plan. She looked towards me, curling her lips and arching her brows. “You should guess,” she said. “Party?” I said, rolling my eyes at my cousin, who smiled sheepishly in the response. “Yes, darling, a party.” Her lips curled wide into a smile, “And guess what? It would be at our favorite spot.” I gazed at her in disbelief and rested my head against the bed’s support. I was already tired like hell after finishing a project and now here this ungrateful girl is demanding a party. “Now, don't give me your big eyes, Amber,” she shrugged and moved towards me. “Babes, in a month, you will be married to your so-called boyfriend, Mateo. So at least enjoy your bachelor days.” I blushed at her words and touched my engagement ring. Yes, I am going to marry Mateo Wilson, my boyfriend with whom I have been in a relationship since high school. We never imagined that we would marry someday, especially when none of my cousins liked him. “Though I still don't understand what you see in him, your happiness matters to me,” she added, making faces. I don't know why they have a problem with him. Mateo is a nice guy, he earns well, works in a huge company as a manager, has an apartment and most importantly his family likes me. What more could someone need? I guess nothing. “Lost?” I could feel Hayley’s gaze on my face, she pressed her lips together and waved her hand in front of my eyes. “Babes, please come out of your dreamland, and let's choose a dress for tonight's party.” I was going to say no but considering that she is right about my bachelor days, I should say yes. After marriage, I won’t get a chance to enjoy life like this. So I gave her a small nod, little did I know that my life was going to change after this party. Well, I forgot to introduce her, to Hayley Foster, my cousin and best friend. We both share a good bond, I never hide anything from her neither does she. I don't know what I have done without my beauty queen. Yeah, I call her a beauty queen. No, don't think it's for teasing; she is indeed a gorgeous lady. Her bouncy hair falls to her waist, her grey-colored eyes, her lips have beautiful shape and fullness, and her nose is pointed. Truly saying she is a diva. I guess if I was a boy, I would have fallen for her. My goodness, how could I forget to mention she is single, and not interested in any relationship? She has high standards. She needs a hot, sexy, and rich guy. Not only this, she even wants someone who can run on her fingers. What would happen to my poor beauty queen? “Hey, babes, don't be so lost. Also, no need to think about my future,” she snapped her fingers in front of my eyes and showed me a black knee-length dress. “How do you always find out my thoughts?” I asked. “Because I know what goes in your pea-size brain, now don't think about all these things. You should just tell me how this dress is,” she asked. I gulped; it was a sexy, back-revealing dress. I had worn it only once and that too when I was with Mateo. Trust me, that day, I got a lot of unwanted attention. So a big no! Moreover, if Mateo finds out, he will kill me. That guy is hell possessive for me or I should say that he is a bit controlling type of person as he nags me every time whenever I get ready. Also, he hates it whenever my guy friends talk with me. Is this the reason that my cousin hates him? But isn’t it common for a guy to hate their girlfriend’s guy friends? At least for me, it's as I have read in so many novels and seen in so many American dramas. Well, before I could have denied that dress, Hayley kept it on my lap saying, “You would look ravishing in it.” “Now don't deny; see even I have to become ready. Also, I would have to call our girl gang to arrange everything.” “And yes, babes, what is your opinion about Striper?” she said, giving me another shock. “No!” I gulped my saliva, hoping that she just joked but when I matched my eyes with her– I got that she was serious. Gosh! What would happen now? A bachelor party and that too with a stripper. Now only God can save me from Mateo. To be continued.
