Chapter 2

I watched him as he took his shoes off by the door. He walked over to me, placing his hand out for me to shake. "Hi, I'm Ryder." He said.  "Scarlet." I smiled.  He smiled back and went into the kitchen with Ace following. I heard my phone ding, I picked it up and seen a text from my ex, Gage. I miss you, maybe we can go to Jenna's party tomorrow? As I read what he sent I heard Ace and Ryder in the kitchen messing with the dishes I think. I looked back at my phone and wrote. Idk, maybe next time :) I decided to go easy on him since I didn't tell him about the move. The guys came back in the living room with popcorn and beer in hand. I scrolled through i********: while they decided on a movie. After about five minutes of bickering Ryder just stuck in a random movie. "f**k you." Ace said to him with a string of curse words following.  "I'd rather not" Ryder said with a smirk. After a while they settled down and the movie could actually be heard.  *^* After a good few drinks and most of that scotch from earlier both guys were passed out on the couch. I got up and stretched, then grabbing my things from the couch and walked to my room. It was dark and quiet so it was very much enjoyable. I happily flopped on my bed and took my phone out and turned it on.  15 messages Most of which were from the crowd I used to hang around. I'm not a hundred percent sure why I still have their numbers in my phone. For a few minutes I debate on deleting their contacts, but I decide against it. Even if they were from the wrong side of the tracks, they were real. There was never any fake bullshit drama. Sure, they did a lot of bad s**t, but they were there to patch us up when someone in the group got their ass kicked. We had a bad reputation and a bad past but we had a good heart and was only looking for something to help with the pain. After a little while of going through Snapchat and i********: I lay my phone down beside me and slowly drift off to sleep.  *^* The room was dark. Too dark. The only light was the one above me. It was small, and it swung back and forth sometimes making the light bulb unscrew just enough to knock the light out for a few seconds. Only for it to come back on. I couldn't make out much, that's until I seen the reflection of knifes and more torture devices. In that moment I did what my instincts told me to I screamed. Loud. It filled the silence and pierced my own ears. I screamed and yelled for help but nobody came. I was stuck. All alone and afraid.  Then all of a sudden he walked through the door. He had a hard look on his face. He smirked at me, it was a nasty twisted smirk. I tried to untie the rope that was keeping me held down to the chair. "There's no point in doing that sweetheart." He walked over to the work table that held every torture device since the 18th century. Even some I've never seen before, and I'd hate to see what they could do. He walked over to me, with a hot human branding torture thingy. It looked like a snake at the end of it. It was hot, scalding hot. I tossed and turned and prepared myself for the pain I knew I was going to endure. Little did I know that was only the beginning of it.  *^* I woke up to Ace standing over me with a worried look etched on his face. I started crying. With the tears pouring out of my eyes I leaned into Ace, holding him as tight as I could. Just hoping that the pain would go away. He still doesn't know what happened in that warehouse, but he doesn't ask questions. He just holds me until there's no more tears left to cry. "I thought the nightmares stopped. Why didn't you tell me you weren't okay when I left?"  "I didn't want to be a burden. I knew how much you were ready to get out of that house. I couldn't just hold you back because of something that I had under control, or at least thought I did." I told him. "I need some coffee." I said standing up. I walked into the kitchen to see Ryder sitting up on the couch. He looked at me worriedly. I just threw on a fake smile and walked into the kitchen. I looked at the clock on the stove, it read 5:00 am. Just like every other nightmare they all happened at the same time. They started at 3 and ended at 5. I sighed as I took out the coffee maker and poured me a glass, thankful that Ace still turns on the coffee machine before he goes to bed.  I turned around to see Ryder right behind me in the kitchen. "What happened?" He said, his voice thick and husky. Like the really hot kind when they get up in the morning.  "Nothing. Just a bad dream that's all." I said coldly. The last thing I need is more people in my business.  "It seemed like a little more than a bad dream." He said as he walked closer to me.  "It's not like it's any of your damn business." I said, cutting my eyes at him. He still inched closer. Soon enough we were close, too close. We were both inching closer and closer. Ryder put his hand on my waist. I inched closer and looked into his eyes. Then I pulled away. I can't lie, I'm attracted to him, but it can't turn into anything more than attraction. I went passed him and walked straight to my room. I sat in my chair and thought about Ryder. If he gets too close I could lose everything. Nobody knows my whole life story. I can't give anybody any bit of leverage against me. Because if I do I might end up hurt in more ways than one.
