The morning sun filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow over our bedroom. Bane lay beside me, his breathing steady and peaceful. I watched him for a moment, grateful for his safe return and the strength he brought to our pack. Our conversation from the previous night lingered in my mind, a stark reminder of the dangers that still lurked beyond our borders.
Koda’s laughter echoed from the hallway, pulling me from my thoughts. I slipped out of bed quietly, careful not to wake Bane, and followed the sound. Koda was already dressed, his eyes sparkling with excitement as he practiced some basic moves in the living room.
“Good morning, sweetheart,” I greeted, ruffling his hair as I passed by.
“Morning, Mom! I’m getting ready for training with Dad!” he announced proudly
