The sun filtered through the thick canopy of trees surrounding our secluded home in Shadow Haven, casting dappled patterns of light on the ground. The peace and tranquility of the place were a stark contrast to the turmoil of recent events. This morning, Bane and I finally had a rare moment to ourselves, with Koda safely at preschool.
I found Bane in the kitchen, his tall frame hunched slightly as he worked on breakfast. The smell of freshly brewed coffee and sizzling bacon filled the air, making my stomach rumble.
“Morning,” I greeted, sliding my arms around his waist from behind. He turned slightly, a smile playing at the corners of his lips as he leaned down to kiss me.
