35 Mike switched off the cooker and went over to the sink, where he started washing up the various pots and pans he’d used to make his cupcakes, biscuits and pastries. Since waking up at six with a sore knee, he’d put being up so early to good use and started baking an assortment of delights. After the excitement at the racetrack last night, he was dropped off by his cousin in the early hours of the morning, after a doctor told him that he might have a very mild concussion. The doctor told him to relax and take it easy. Baking was how he relaxed. The kitchen smelled amazing, just how he imagined his bakery would smell, if he ever succeeded in opening one. One great thing to come out of last night’s crash: Elise cared about him enough to scale the barrier and run to make sure he was safe
