Chapter Eight
Olivia stared at the injured man like she’d seen a ghost.
“That’s ridiculous,” she snapped quickly. “Why would my family attack Damian’s shipment?”
The bleeding man looked nervous under everyone’s gaze.
“I—I only repeated what I heard.”
Luca stepped forward dangerously. “From who?”
The man swallowed hard. “One of the guards downstairs.”
Damian remained silent.
Too silent.
And somehow, that terrified everyone more.
Olivia turned toward him immediately. “Damian, you seriously can’t believe this.”
His expression stayed unreadable.
“I believe someone betrayed me.”
The sentence hit harder than a slap.
Olivia’s face paled slightly.
Bianca watched the entire situation carefully, amusement flickering briefly in her eyes.
“This is exactly why I hate business politics,” Arabella muttered dramatically while eating another chip.
“No one asked,” Damian replied coldly.
Arabella rolled her eyes. “You’re in a terrible mood today.”
Ethan adjusted his glasses calmly before looking at the injured man.
“Go to the medical room before you bleed on the floor.”
The man rushed away immediately.
Lily stayed quiet, trying to process everything happening around her.
Shipment attacks.
Family rivalries.
Possible betrayal.
What kind of company was this?
Olivia suddenly pointed toward Bianca angrily.
“This is obviously your family trying to manipulate everyone.”
Bianca smiled faintly. “If my family wanted chaos, trust me, you’d know.”
“Was that a threat?”
“It was a fact.”
The tension exploded instantly.
“Enough,” Damian ordered sharply.
Silence fell again.
Then his eyes moved toward Lily.
“You. My office.”
Lily blinked in surprise. “Me?”
“Yes.”
She followed him nervously while everyone continued arguing behind them.
The second the office doors closed, Damian loosened his tie in frustration.
“You’re overwhelmed,” he said suddenly.
Lily stared at him. “Your life is insane.”
A tired laugh escaped him quietly.
That shocked her more than anything.
For one brief second…
Damian Knight actually looked exhausted.
Then he stepped closer.
And the dangerous look in his eyes returned immediately.
“You should stay away from Olivia and Bianca.”
Lily frowned slightly. “Why?”
Damian’s jaw tightened.
“Because people around me don’t stay safe for long.”
