Chapter Eleven
Everything stopped.
The masked man’s arm tightened around Lily as the cold metal of the gun pressed harder against her head.
Damian went completely still.
The entire hallway fell silent except for distant alarms ringing through the building.
Luca slowly lowered his weapon slightly. “Easy…”
The man laughed darkly. “Interesting. I didn’t think the great Damian Knight cared about anyone.”
Damian’s face showed no emotion.
But his eyes?
Pure murder.
“Let her go,” he said calmly.
The attacker smirked beneath his mask. “Or what?”
Bianca subtly moved closer, her gun still hidden at her side.
Olivia stayed frozen beside Ethan, visibly shaking.
Arabella looked terrified.
Lily’s breathing became uneven as panic consumed her.
The man holding her suddenly pulled her tighter against him.
“You know,” he mocked, “people say Damian Knight doesn’t have a heart.”
His gun pressed harder against Lily’s skin.
“But I think we just found it.”
Damian took one slow step forward.
“Touch her again,” he said softly, “and I’ll make sure they never find your body.”
The threat sent chills through everyone nearby.
Even the masked men looked nervous now.
Lily stared at Damian in shock.
He meant it.
Every single word.
Suddenly the attacker laughed again. “Too bad.”
Then everything happened at once.
Bianca fired her gun.
The bullet hit the attacker’s shoulder.
He screamed in pain and released Lily instantly.
Damian moved faster than Lily could process.
One second he was standing across the hallway.
The next—
He had the man slammed violently against the wall.
The sound of the impact echoed brutally.
Luca and the security guards attacked the remaining intruders immediately.
Chaos exploded again.
Gunshots.
Screaming.
Fighting.
But Lily barely noticed any of it.
Because Damian was standing in front of her protectively, one arm wrapped tightly around her waist.
“Are you hurt?” he demanded.
She shook her head shakily.
For the first time since meeting him…
Damian Knight looked genuinely afraid of losing someone.
