But before I could even do so, Nana snatched the envelope out of my hand, her movement swift and urgent. She pulled out the paper inside and scanned it.
Her eyes widened in shock and disbelief as she opened it. "What is it, Nana?" I asked, and quickly took the paper from her, scanning the contents.
It was an invitation to the Darkville Pack. I looked up at Nana, confused. "What does this mean, Nana?"
Nana's face was pale. "It's an invitation back to our pack," she said quietly.
"Okay, that's good, right? We're going, right? You know we can't refuse this. It's today, Nana," I said, my excitement building.
Nana's expression turned serious. "Um, it's...we're being ordered to come before the alpha. We can't refuse it."
I nodded, feeling a sense of vindication. "Yes, finally! The Moon goddess finally answered me."
I turned to Nana, seeking reassurance. "This is good, right?"
Nana's face was uncertain. "I don't know, Wendy. You might not like this."
I frowned, feeling a surge of determination. "I will, as long as it has to do with my pack. I'll get to know who my parents are, I'll get to know where I come from. You've been hiding this from me for so long...we're going."
I stood up, already heading towards my room. "Let me go freshen up already, so we can start going on time."
Here's the continuation:
After my bath, I came out to find Nana still seated at the dining table, looking lost in thought. I tapped her on the shoulder, and she was shocked. "Are you okay, Nana? Why are you still seated here? You're supposed to be getting ready."
Nana looked up at me, her eyes clouded with worry. "I have a bad feeling about this."
I frowned, trying to reassure her. "You can't have a bad feeling about this, Nana. If you had told me things sooner, maybe I would’ve understood why you have a bad feeling about this. But I can't relate right now. Please, let's just go. If we keep staying here, we won't know how it's going to turn out."
I assisted Nana in getting up, gesturing for her to go take her bath. While she was getting ready, I cleaned up the table and waited patiently.
About 15 minutes later, Nana emerged, looking refreshed. We took a cab to Darkville pack, which had a beautiful villa inside. We were assisted into the villa by some werewolf guards and led into the alpha's residence.
As we waited for the alpha to arrive, I couldn't help but admire the grandeur of the mansion. The walls were adorned with exquisite art, and a stunning chandelier hung from the ceiling.
After a few minutes, a handsome man walked in, followed by an older woman. They were both dressed elegantly.
“My name is Alpha Eldred Warrick, and this is my mother Luna Patricia.” My eyes widened in surprise as I realized who he was. I was so excited but had to compose.
"Mother, this is my mate that I was telling you about." My eyes grew wide with shock, and Alpha Eldred’s mother, Patricia, looked equally surprised, exclaiming, "What? No, no, no, no!"
Alpha Eldred's calm voice cut through the tension. "Mother, not now. I have already given her my mark as my mate."
His mother, Patricia, looked stunned. "When did you...?" she trailed off, her eyes wide with shock.
Alpha Eldred's gaze locked onto mine, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. "I marked you the other day, in the woods," he said, his voice low and husky.
My mind reeled as I processed his words. "You...you were the one who saved me?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
Alpha Eldred's eyes gleamed with a possessive light. "Yes, and I marked you as my mate."
I felt a surge of emotions, but before I could respond, Alpha Eldred continued, "You are my mate, Wendy. That makes you my wife. The ceremony will go on tomorrow."
His mother, Patricia, looked taken aback. "Tomorrow?" she repeated, her voice laced with concern.
Alpha Eldred nodded, his expression unyielding. "Yes, tomorrow. What's the point of wasting time when I've found my mate?"
Alpha Eldred turned to Nana, his eyes sincere. "I apologize, ma'am, but I love your granddaughter. You know how she and I have been, right from when we were kids. I'm still in love with her. I've been looking for her everywhere, but now that I've found her, I'm not ready to let her go. I promised her that I was going to find her, and now that I have, I'm going to make her my wife."
I held both hands to my mouth, speechless and blushing. Nana, on the other hand, was also speechless, snorting in surprise.
Alpha Eldred continued," I hope you're not going to be against this too, ma'am."
Nana looked at me, then back at Alpha Eldred. "No, I won't. It's all up to Wendy here," she said, her eyes gentle.
I nodded my head, still feeling a little dazed. Alpha Eldred's eyes lit up with joy, and he smiled, relief written all over his face.
Just then, Eldred stood up, walked towards me, held my hand, picked me up, and pulled me towards the stairs. Then he walked me upstairs, still holding my hands. We entered a room, and he stood in front of me, holding my face with his palms.
I felt shy, trying to look down, but he pulled my chin up towards his eyes. I could feel my face heating up and turning red. Closing my eyes, I expected a kiss, but instead, he pulled my nose, saying "naughty girl."
I slowly opened my eyes and said, "I'm not naughty."
Eldred lifted me up in a hug, spinning me around a little. "I've missed you. Is this really you? You look so gorgeous."
I smiled, feeling a little embarrassed. "You look… big."
Eldred laughed. I continued, "You look cute, very, very cute. I never knew you were going to be this handsome."
Eldred smiled, a hint of amusement in his eyes. "Hm, really? Yeah, cause I remember you'd always call me grumpy."
I giggled. "Stop. And I remember you always called me a little lady."
Eldred's expression turned playful. "That's because I'm five years older than you."
Here's the continuation:
"Stop it, Eldred!" I said, laughing.
Eldred chuckled and sat on the bed, inviting me to join him. I sat beside him, and he wrapped his arm around me.
"How did you find me?" I asked, curiosity getting the better of me.
Eldred smiled. "I followed you that day on your way back. When I saw you, I knew it was you immediately. I've been looking for you everywhere, so I left all I was doing at that particular point and decided to follow you."
I looked at him in surprise. "What, I didn't notice?"
Eldred laughed. "Because I'm that good."
I giggled. "Thanks for finding me, Eldred."
Eldred's expression turned serious. "I promised you I would."
He looked at my lips, and I felt a flutter in my chest. I licked my lips, and Eldred looked away, clearing his throat.
"So, do you have a boyfriend already?" he asked, trying to sound casual.
I shook my head. "No, I don't."
Eldred raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure?"
I nodded. "I don't."
Eldred looked puzzled. "Why? Why don't you have a boyfriend? You're this cute, you're this beautiful...so you can't tell me you don't have a boyfriend."
I smiled, feeling a little shy. "I've always had you in mind, you know. That’s why I kept rejecting people."
Eldred's eyes sparkled with amusement. "But now I'm here, and you're going to be my mate, my luna."
I giggled, and Eldred slightly tickled me. I squirmed, laughing. "Stop, stop!"
Eldred stopped, and I adjusted my dress. "Nana would be so worried. I have to go down."
Eldred stood up, offering me his hand. "You don't have to worry about your Nana. And don't you think that you're leaving this place to go back to that house of yours? You’re not going anywhere. I've already taken care of a new place for your Nana, okay? So, you're staying here with me."
I looked at him in surprise. "So, this is your place?"
Eldred chuckled. "No, I have a lot of places."
I raised an eyebrow. "Wow, okay. But I have to go down to check up on my Nana."
Eldred nodded. "Okay, fine. Let's go."
We walked to the stairs, and just then,we saw Nana coughing out blood while Patricia watched.
