Chapter 6 Red Lingerie, Cruel Reverie

1279 Words
Xesha's POV "Hey, Xesha... what's up? Is it important?" asked the voice on the other end. It wasn't Jasper, but Helena. "Jasper and I are on a business trip in Miami and will probably be back later this weekend. If it's important, I'll pass it on to him." I snorted. This jerk was great. He had just begged me to come back to him, and less than twenty-four hours later, he was already acting up again. How could I trust him? I didn't answer and hung up without saying anything else. I bent over Grandma's stiff body and sobbed, calling her name. If only I hadn't been late... If only I had spent this week with her instead of going through with that ridiculous wedding that ended in betrayal... none of this would have happened. And then... what did Grandma want to say to Jasper? Should I have come with him so Grandma could have seen him before she passed away? I lifted my face, asking the servant to take care of everything we needed to do for Grandma's funeral. I grabbed my cell phone and called my sister, who now lived out of town. "Ale..." I only said her name, but she seemed to understand what I wanted to say. "What's wrong with Grandma?" she asked, sounding panicked. "She's gone." I sobbed. "You're coming home, right?" "Yeah... I'll be there soon. Just wait for me, okay?" And... three days passed as I took care of Grandma's funeral with the help of my older sister, and everything was finished. I decided to return to the motel immediately afterwards. But first, I wanted to make sure whether Jasper was at the mansion or still having fun with that woman. I drove to the mansion and found the driveway empty. Jasper's favorite car wasn't there. He hadn't returned yet. I walked towards the building and passed the garden where we used to spend time together. The plants there were withered. Jasper must have stopped taking care of them like he used to. Of course, it was all because of Helena. I stepped inside. No servants greeted me. They must be busy preparing lunch for Jasper if he came home. Meanwhile, this was my chance to tidy up all my things. Some of Grandma's belongings were still here from her last stay. I put everything in a box and took it to the car. When I returned, my steps halted again in front of a large drum. There were remnants of my wedding dress that hadn't been completely burned. About half of it remained. However, I ignored it and, for the final touch to the gifts from Jasper that I had to get rid of and several suits I had given him—I wanted to throw them away too. I remembered an old incident when my hand reached for a maroon lingerie in the walk-in-closet. Jasper had chosen it for me himself. I had only worn it a few times, and when Helena began to invade Jasper's home and heart, it suddenly became hers. "Isn't that mine? Why are you wearing it?" I asked at that time, as I pulled at it to get Helena to let go. "Take it off, right now!" "Jasper told me to wear it." "What?" I rushed out to look for him and found him taking a phone call in his study, not far from our bedroom. "Jasper, can you explain why you let Helena wear my lingerie? It was your gift to me. It's what I wear every time we make love, Jase. Why—" Jasper raised his hand to stop me. "I'll call you back later. Okay, thanks." He ended the call and looked at me coldly. "Can't you stop making a big deal out of nothing?" "She's wearing my lingerie. The color you said suited me and always turned you on. Why did you give it to her?" "God... Xesha, can't you think before you make a scene? Does that really matter?" "It matters to me. It's ours. Our property, our memories, Jase." "Enough. I'm no longer turned on by you wearing it, so let Helena have it." He took a card from his wallet and handed it to me. "Buy whatever you want." His attitude stunned me and I sighed heavily. "So... you don't want to see me wearing it anymore?" I asked, trying to keep my mind from making wild assumptions about him. "Yes. And I want you to buy the new ones." He came closer, looked at me, but coldly. He caressed my cheek, but it felt emotionless. That was just how he was, that was what I always thought to myself. "Buy the sexiest ones and wear them tonight." Those words felt like a consolation. I took his card and rushed off to buy everything I thought would spark his interest and desire for me as usual, even though Helena was now in the picture. However, when I finished buying everything I wanted, tried it on in my room, and then went to look for him in his study, he was there with Helena sitting on top of him, wearing my red lingerie. Did you know what I did then? I was stunned, silent for a split second before finally turning around and leaving. I didn't want to make a scene because I didn't want to upset Jasper, causing him to call off our wedding, which was only a few days away at that time. However, in fact, he didn't just call it off, he destroyed it. How foolish of me. I snapped out of my cruel reverie about the past, roughly throwing that lingerie and another I had bought at Jasper's request into a box that I would later throw away along with the other items in it. This lingerie had been tainted by betrayal. It was disgusting, and even though I would never return to this house, Helena must never wear it again. I rushed outside and was about to throw the box into the large trash bin outside the fence. However, a man came up and saluted me before speaking. "Mrs. Dawn—" "Just call me by my last name. Foxx, you must still remember." The man fell silent, pursing his lips, and of course he knew. He used to be my personal assistant, but since I became a resident, I had been too busy and thought that having an assistant slowed me down, so I handed him over to Jasper. "I'm sorry, Miss Foxx. Next time I'll pay more attention," he replied. Well, unfortunately, there wouldn't be a next time. "I came to ask for your help, Miss. Mr. Dawn is attending a dinner party and auction with a large company tonight and asked me to pick out a suit for him. Can you help me choose? He's used to your taste and I think—" I casually pointed to the cardboard box that appeared to contain several sets of Jasper suits. He widened his eyes, not believing that I would do that. A dinner party, huh? I thought he was having too much fun with that slut to remember to go home and do his job. Business outside the city or abroad... it was more like an excuse for him and Helena to go on vacation together. But, I no longer cared about what they did. My cell phone rang. It was from my best friend. I sped up because I needed to meet her who must be waiting for me. She said she was eager to share something. About Jasper, she said, and I was sure it wasn't good news.
