TYCHO CHECKED THAT the street was empty before giving Wilder the signal that it was safe to leave. She walked quickly down the path to the sidewalk and then climbed into the seat of the autovan. Tycho and Stephie had already packed plenty of food and other supplies in the back. As Tycho started the engine and input the destination, the autovan pulled away from the curb. Wilder gave Stephie a wave. The older woman waved back before smiling and giving a thumbs up. Wilder was glad they hadn’t parted on bad terms.
