Chapter Two

two When I wake up, my eyelids are a warm pink which means it was one of those rare days where my parents let me sleep in late. Usually, they make me get up before 10:30, always saying You need to start the day before it ends. Rubbish. The day is never complete if I don't get my beauty sleep. That's when I remember my friends sleeping over, and then all the other events of last night flood my mind like a video. "Oh crappity crap," I mutter, turning over to press my face into the pillow. Instead I end up coming face first with the air, and realise I had just rolled off the sofa onto the hard floor. "Ow!" I yelp, my cry of pain muffled by the floor. I sit up, rubbing my face and blinking blearily. Sunlight was streaming through the window and filling the whole room, which was devoid of anyone else. I could hear voices coming from the kitchen and knew the others must have decided to make breakfast. I get up, and prepare myself for an onslaught of questions. But I had enough of my own questions to answer, such as, How can I go back to school now? What if Trystan or Finn find out who I am? What if it goes around the school I'm a stalker slut? I shake my head, hoping the questions would leave me alone. I walk into the kitchen, where the smell of bacon and pancakes was calling to me. Jordan was cooking something in the frying pan, but I didn't worry too much because Jordan was an amazing cook. Keeley and Cameron were both chatting with plates of pancakes, although Cameron was mainly stuffing them down his throat while Keeley talked. "Morning," I greet them, slumping into a seat next to Cameron. Jordan slides over a plate filled with bacon, and I smile gratefully at him. "How is everyone?" "Nope, nice try but you're not getting out of it that easily," Keeley smirks, swiping one of my bacon pieces and chewing it. "So what happened last night?" I sigh, knowing they wouldn't leave me alone until I told them. I explained everything from the moment I climbed up the wall to jumping out of the window and running away with Jordan in tow. I keep my eyes on my plate the whole time, avoiding there stares. There's a silence when I finish, and I look up slowly. Cameron bursts out laughing, Keeley looks as if she wants to laugh as well but she's too shocked and Jordan...well, he just gives me a bemused smile. "You just jumped out of the window? Classic!" Cameron says between laughs, bending over in a fit of hysteria. I feel my cheeks burn and Keeley joins in his laughter, her brown eyes filled with amusement. "Oh my god you sound crazy! Well, you are to be fair." "Hey, shut up," I retort, knowing it was true. "I'd like to see how you act in that situation," I add stiffly, eating my bacon to feel better. "I wouldn't put myself in that situation," Keeley points out, and I narrow my eyes at her. "Liar! You would totally sneak into Trystan's room, we all know you have a secret infatuation with him!" "Secret infatuation with who?" We all look up to see Callum standing in the doorway, running his hand through his bed head while giving me a quizzical look. "Is there something you're not telling me?" I watch as Keeley's face goes blank, and her mouth opens as she gapes at Callum. "I..." I smirk at her speechless expression, feeling mean enough to not help her out. She had been laughing at my predicament before. Keeley had a crush on Callum, which she claimed ended when she was 14. But despite this she still went all awkward around him, choked up and red just like me when I have to interact with a popular - a great example would be Trystan Woods. "Nah, Keeley was just telling us how much she - " I never finish my sentence, because her foot comes into contact with my shin. I give her a smug look, and she glares at me. "Jade broke into Trystan Woods bedroom and stole his underwear!" she announces loudly. "Keeley!" I exclaim, slapping her arm in shock. Cameron rolls his eyes at what he would call 'girl drama' while Jordan slides into the seat next to mine with a plate if bacon, looking bored. "What the hell?" Callum asks, raising an eyebrow. "She lies," I accuse, pointing at Keeley dramatically. I had no problem with Callum knowing because he wouldn't really care, except from the fact he could blackmail me with the information. "No I don't," Keeley says innocently, not looking flustered at Callum's presence anymore. "Do I guys?" she asks, looking at Jordan and Cameron. Jordan opens his mouth, but I shoot him a look. I'll give you food, I mouth to him, and smile inwardly as he shrugs. Food always worked wonders. "Don't know." Cameron however didn't hesitate to throw me under the bus. "It's true. All started with a dare," he says casually, and I chuck some bacon at him. It sticks in his dark hair and he sticks his tongue out at me. "Okay someone explain what's going on," Callum demands, and then looks at Keeley with a grin. He knew she used to like him, and the bastard always used it to his advantage. "No!" Callum tilts his head to the side, and blinks his light blue eyes a couple of times. "Come on Keels, you can tell me," he says sweetly, his words like sugar off his tongue. "Okay," she replies immediately, looking dazed. "I dared Jade to steal Trystan's underwear last night, so she went to his house and took them but he caught her so she ran away." "You're traitors!" I announce dramatically to Cameron and Keeley, and all I get back is a piece of pancake Cameron flicked into my hair as revenge. "You still owe me food," Jordan adds, smiling at me brightly. "Didn't I ever tell you that if you play with fire you'll get burnt?" Callum tuts, grinning evilly at me. "I can't wait to go to school on Monday. I'm sure Trystan will be eager to tell the whole school that you're a stalker." "I hate you all," I mutter bitterly, ripping at my bacon viciously with my teeth. "My life is screwed." "Always an optimist," Cameron says cheerfully. "Oh I know what'll make you feel better! Let's all watch the video you took." "I don't know..." I trail off, and a dart of panic shoots through my chest as a horrible goes through my mind. Where was the video? Where was my phone? The voice in my mind hisses, and even the voice sounded panicked. "Oh my god," I gasp, standing up suddenly. I shove past Callum, running into the living room where all my stuff from last night was spread on the floor and sofa. "Jade? What's wrong?" I hear Keeley yell after me, but I ignore her as I throw things out of my way to find my phone. Don't panic, I try to comfort myself. It'll be here somewhere. "Hey, what are you doing?" Cameron asks, coming up next to me and looking shocked as I basically tear the living room apart. I ignore him, scrambling around the floor while peering under the sofa. "Where the hell is it?" I say hysterically, throwing my hands up in frustration. "It has to be here!" I dive towards the sofa to look between the cushions, but Cameron grabs my shoulders. "What is wrong with you woman?" He says, shaking me. I try to pull his hands off me, but he's considerably bigger and stronger then me. "My phone!" I say desperately, feeling the urge to rip out my hair. "I can't find it!" "Did you have it when you left the house?" Jordan asks me, looking relatively calm, but then again he rarely wasn't calm. It was hard to get him angry. "Yes I remember filming in the room and..." I trail off, and I feel as if my heart had plunged down into my feet. "I think I dropped it in the bedroom while I was running to the window. Trystan Woods has my phone." "Ok don't panic," Keeley says quickly, but she looked just as flustered as I felt. "Oh my god forget it he's going to see everything on there! I have some weird photos on that phone, my life is over!" "Keeley now is not the time to worry about looking good in my photos," I tell we irritably, and I look over to where Callum was watching us. "Callum. You cannot, I repeats cannot, tell mum and dad I lost the phone already. They'll have a fit!" "Yeah," he says, looking thoughtful. He adds, "But maybe they'll forget about me getting drunk and flooding the bathroom." "I'll tell them about the blonde," I warn, and his cheeks tinge with pink while he glares at me. He wasn't the only one with good blackmailing tricks. "So keep you mouth shut and I'll keep mine shut." "What happened with the blonde?" Jordan asks curiously, his mouth pulling up at the corners when Callum just blushes deeper and walks off. "Ok I guess I'll leave it to my imagination." "Help me please," I groan, dropping to my knees. "It could still be here somewhere, I didn't necessarily leave it there..." They look skeptical, but help me look anyway. Half an hour later where I've looked absolutely everywhere, all that I've achieved is the knowledge that my phone is in fact lost. Somewhere in the Woods household. "What am I going to do?" I wonder out loud, tugging at the ends of my tangled golden brown hair. "Ok I have an idea," Jordan says, and I look at him eagerly. "Break into his room again and get the phone back. You did it easily enough the first time." "Don't be stupid," I reply hotly, and Jordan looks hurt by my sharp tone. "Sorry, it's just I can't just sneak into his room again and risk getting caught. He'll probably call the police or something, assuming I'm going to rape him." "You know I don't think it classes as rape if the woman does it," Jordan muses, his green eyes looking distant as if he were imagining it. "But that's a bit sexist becau-" "Jordan. Back to the point." "Right. Well, I think you should go up to him in school and say you left your phone at his house," Jordan suggests. "Oh yeah because Jade can totally just go up to him and be like 'Oh hey Trystan I've never talked to you in school before, but remember when I tried to steal your underwear? Yeah I left my phone there, mind getting it for me?'" Keeley scoffs, shaking her head. "No, he's the hot popular boy. Jade's already messed up big time with him, she can't talk to him or she'll risk social suicide." "Gee thanks," I mutter dryly. "Does anyone have any other ideas?" I'm met with three blank looks, which wasn't exactly very helpful. It was already 12, and I knew my parents would be back from visiting my cousins by 1. They had left this morning as they had told me last night, and now I had one hour left to think up a suitable lie about where my phone is. "So we all agree the break into the room, take back to phone idea is the best right?" Cameron asks. "I'm not going anywhere near that house again," I protest, and look at my three friends hopefully. "But you can..." "I can't- um yeah tomorrow? My mum wants a family dinner," Keeley bluffs, and I can tell she's lying from the way she bites her lip as she says it. "And I'm bad at gym, so I wouldn't be able to climb the wall," is Jordan's excuse, so I turn to Cameron expectantly. "I just don't want to," Cameron replies simply. "I'm free tomorrow but I am not risking my masculinity by breaking into a teenage boys room." "Technically you're not breaking in-" "Yes, yes you are." "Ok fine," I sigh, my phone flashing before my eyes. "Looks like I'll just have to save up money and buy a new phone I replace my old one." "Wait!" Keeley holds up a hand, grabbing her own phone from inside her. I was half expecting her to offer it to me, but instead she turns it on. "Now is not the time for f******k," I huff. "Actually, it is," she says, and smiles triumphantly after clicking on the screen multiple times. She turns the screen to face me. "There is your answer." The screen showed a status update from Finn Walters, which read 'Party this Friday at Woods. Gonna be awesome!' "You're friends with Finn Walters?" Jordan asks, looking vaguely impressed. "Yeah yeah," Keeley waves it off absently, and looks at me excitedly. "So? What do you think?" "Look Keels I'm not sure a party will be very helpful right now, especially considering who the host is." "No," she says impatiently, pulling her phone back and looking at me as if I'm stupid. "The party's at Trystan's house. So is your phone. You go to the party, and get your phone. Simple." It dawns on me that this could actually work, and I grin at her. "You're a genius Keels!" I exclaim, tackling her with a hug. "So I've been told," she says smugly, smiling. "I hate to break up your sismance but you do realise that this is a party for populars. We aren't populars," Jordan adds while indicating towards us all, as if it isn't obvious. "So that plans down the drain." "We aren't actually going to this party to 'party'," Keeley argues, raising an eyebrow. "We sneak in, find the phone and then we're out before someone realises we weren't invited." "Please no more sneaking," I groan. This stupid dare had cost me my brand new phone. "Great, so we're crashing a party!" Cameron beams, ignoring my protest. "I've always wanted to see what a populars party would be like." "Ok maybe we can make this work," Jordan admits, stroking his non existent beard thoughtfully. "Crash the party, get Jade's phone and get out." They all look at me expectantly, and I throw my hands up into the air. "Fine!" I say in exasperation. "What've I got to lose? Let's crash this party."
