Act 2: The Confrontation
Our married year together was one of the best in my life. Like the song says, I had a wonderful guy in Alec, and Jake was always there for me when I needed him. Surrounded by happiness and with the love of two men, I stopped paying attention to my career and gave myself permission to take time off. I still read scripts Jake sent my way, but considered only the projects worthy of my A list talent.
During this time, Alec and I attended film premieres, lavish Hollywood parties, and the annual award shows. However, I neglected to notice I was no longer receiving the star treatment. At blockbuster premieres, theater ushers seated us in the back rows or off to the side where we had to crane our necks to watch the film.
