Ryder’s POV The curved needle pierced my skin, pulling the thick surgical thread to stitch my torn flesh back together. The Zurich police doctor in front of me looked at me like I was a madman because I had just refused the local anesthetic he offered. I didn't need painkillers. I grunted softly, letting the burning sting spread across my arm. This physical pain meant absolutely nothing. It didn't even come close to the devastation in my chest.
