Harmony POV
“Mom! Are you home?” I called out as I stepped inside my parents’ cabin.
“In the kitchen, baby!”
I started back toward the back of the house catching the slight scent of her chicken and dumplings. My mouth watered and my stomach all but jumped in anticipation.
“Oh, please tell me there is enough in there for me,” I groaned, walking through the archway, and dropping a light kiss on her cheek while she stirred a pot on the stove.
She chuckled under her breath as she lifted a bowl from the cabinet and spooned me up a hefty serving of my favorite comfort food.
“What brings you by, my baby?”
I took my bowl and sat down on a stool at the island. “This is kind of personal. Are you expecting Dad any time soon?”
After glancing my direction, she set the spoon aside and turned
