Maggie dragged herself through the front door of the inn, every step like moving through quicksand. For the first time in months, she felt as exhausted as she had back in California, and she just wanted to fall face-first into bed for about fourteen hours. It was a good reminder that she was a long way from truly healed, but she figured she got a pass after the day she’d endured.
