BEAST ACADEMY 2: LET THE QUEEN RISE

Thirteenth Chapter

Eveline's POV

I and Bern came to the infirmary. The modern white room was very big and I even know why shifters were laying on every bed, I guess shifters get hurt often than humans. On one farthest bed was sitting raven-haired in shorts and navy blue hoody.

"Hey, hey!" I greeted Lark on what he threw away the joystick.

"Eveline! Ow...Uhm, why you are so sweaty and...stinky?" typical Lark, always so straightforward and says things not thinking twice.

"She trained with Willer" answered for me Bern who took the joystick and turned on Mortal Kombat.

"You still train with him? I thought you didn't want to" he raised his eyebrow and narrowed his almond-shaped eyes.

"Yeah...I thought that too but he helps me in my abilities, I mean...he is really good" I sat near him and watched how Bern was furiously pressing the buttons on the white joystick to defeat the Scorpion, I doubt he will win.

"Yes, this is the problem of getting in a fight with his grace, you are angry with him and want to ditch him but...deep in your heart, you know that he is the best out of best" he chuckled and shook his head and after continuing, "That happened to us, right Bern?" Lark glanced at Bern on what he nodded with a smug look on his arrogant face.

"We wanted to change the coach multiple times! But Reece...huh" Lark closed his mouth and laughed into the palm.

"Surely this bastard knows how to make people stick around with him" oh, my blue-haired friend with this I should agree, "But...Reece is really good as a person and coach, we never felt such a connection with any other" claimed Bern with such...knightly dignity and it gave me goosebumps.

These guys respect and love that asshole-Lord. It reminds me of the soldiers that will go through anything and everything with their captain or just loyal friends that will follow their friend, like Sir George Rutenberg and Sir Henry Quin followed my father...

My father, Reece, and Alexander all had loyal followers, they respect them, feared, and loved. I am scared that I will not have followers, I am scared that people won't go with me, I am scared that I will disappoint everyone...if I didn't already. This is the first reason why I am not going to be a queen, I will not rule like my father or Alex...I will end the bloodline of my father.

I am sorry.

"Cam?" I blinked multiple times and didn't realize at first that I was in my thoughts.

"Yeah?" I looked at Bern who already turned off the game and was sitting between me and Lark, they both stared at me as if I grew two heads.

"I am sorry...just thought of something" I cleared my throat and started thinking about how to change the topic. I guess they think I am insane...might be.

"Uhm, so when they will discharge you?" I looked at Lark's knee that was in gypsum.

"I don't know but anyways I will get out of here, I can't sit here day and night, hell no! I rather train with Eleanor with the broken bone" he uttered on whole seriousness.

Did I say that I am insane? Forget it. Eleanor and Lark are crazy while Levi is the normal kiddo...oh no. He is not normal, I forgot to ask Lana about their little date. s**t! Maybe Lark knows?

"Hey Lark, do you know anything about Lana and Levi? What's going on between the two?" I furrowed my eyebrows and saw how Bern's mouth froze, he tries not to laugh but we all know how loudly he will laugh.

"Spit it out" I glared at hissing Lark and then heard him saying, "Ooh, you will not like it...Uhm, Lev...he went to train with Lana and um, so, he just...he..." Oh, dearest God!

"F**K! FASTER MAN!" we yelled in unison with Bern on what we chuckled and gave each other a glance.

"Levi and Lana slept together!" raven-haired slapped his mouth and then grimaced in regret.

I will kill that twin.

I felt upcoming energy and tried to focus on my happy emotions as Reece taught me...but it was hard in this kind of situation! I felt how my eyes glowed and I glared at the twin.

"And what about Ava?" I warningly stood up and stepped in front of him.

"Ahhh...She...you know, Levi and Ava loved each other from childhood--"

"Cut it! Lark, tell me, does he date Ava?"

If I will hear the positive answer...well, I don't guarantee that my secret will stay as a secret because I will kill that curly one with my dragon claws and after burning him down.

"...yes?" he hesitantly answered and I already made my way outside.

Oh, you better run poor Levi.

"Cam! Wait!" I heard Bern and Lark but my feet didn't stop, they trailed me to the hall where usually everyone sits.

I was already before glass walls and my power was getting out of control so I let it out on the glass walls making the doors storm open and cracks occurring on them.

I looked around or more glared around and saw laughing Eleanor with Maverick and opposite sat Levi with Ava.

"Levi!" I yelled and hurriedly made my way to their table. Maverick and Levi were the first who saw me and smiles occurred on their faces but they faded as they saw my glowing eyes and clutched fists.

"Eveli--" I was inches away from Lark's twin and then my fist met his perfect jaw. I heard gasps of Maverick and Ava but not Eleanor's, she was smiling satisfied, and proud.

"What the f**k you are doing?! Psycho!" yelled angrily brown-skinned girl and then her eyes glowed with the dark shade of orange.

"Oh! I am sorry! But I need to ask! why the f**k you are always protecting this bastard?!" I faked a smile and came near flaming Ava. "I am protecting him because he is my boyfriend! If you didn't know!" she menacingly answered and came to Levi, helping him to stand up but Levi shrugged her away and I saw a sadness in her hazel eyes.

"Cam!" I looked back and saw upcoming Bern with limping Lark and...Reece?

"What the f**k he is doing here?" I asked Bern, glancing at the young Lord, "I saw how you...let out the energy wave and broke on door and cursing Bern" answered the Lord making me snort. "Anyways...Levi!" I looked back at the hot nerd who was confused by my actions. "You are such an asshole!" I stepped to him but Ava put him behind herself, oh come on! Really? Since when girlfriend protects the boyfriend?! I am getting annoyed with this possessive girl and stepped forward to her if she will stand between him and me...she is getting herself into a bad, very bad situation.

Turn on the song 'Lie to me' by Dana and the Wolf or better 'Grey' by Why don't we

"Wowow, I am sorry to interrupt but what's going on, pretty?" Maverick hurriedly came between me and Ava, pushing me back by the shoulders and smiling charmingly.

"Move Ricky"

"Oh, stop it, sugarpie! Let's be civilized people! Tell us what's wrong?" he looked into my eyes and it was like he...hypnotized me?

"Okay," I muttered. What?!

"Great! Now, talk" said the snow-white-haired boy, making me obey.

"Levi fooled poor Lana! He used her!" I spitted my saliva as I yelled while glaring at the copy of Lark but Levi was looking more groomed and formal and didn't even show a slight guiltiness, it was as if he didn't do anything.

"What do you mean?" questioned Ava and I literally could see how she was scared of my answer.

Oh, God...I really don't want to ruin the relationship but technically Levi already ruined it. I took a deep breath and looked into big, sad hazel eyes of Ava, "Levi slept with Lana"

At first, there was a grave silence. Gladly there were no people except our crazy group.

Dammit...I can't look into those broken and full of pain eyes...I know this feeling. Feeling of betrayal...and this made me give Reece a glance at what he looked away. I guess he knows himself.

Ava's eyes went angry and now she was looking at the twin, "Is it true?" she was looking calm but we all felt her strong aura. Now I know why Reece made her a captain of the team.

Levi was silent, his eyes were like from glass and he tried to keep him firm but we saw his nervousness. "Yes," one word, three letters but gave so much pain to the person in front of him. The girl recoiled as if he punched her and that gave her physical pain. We all saw how this 'reckless, brave, strong' girl was now a fragile creature...

Ava's eyes didn't blink, not hiding the tears, she cried. She was silent, only the tears fastly scattered down her brown skin. It was so damn hard to see her cry...shit.

"I just...I just can't understand...Levi, why? Why? Why? Why?" she trembled and slowly was muttering these words like a curse to a guy who kept it firmly and didn't react at all. He kept a blank face. What can I say? Acts like a robot and thinks that it's right.

"I told you...we can't be together" answered Levi, softly but yet he stated what he said to a girl. Ava sneezed and nodded multiple times and then shook her head at the same time...

"Yes...yes...okay...I understand" she kept mumbling under her breath while slowly stumbling back to the exit and keeping her gaze at the floor.

"Ava..." called out Eleanor silently and that was enough for a girl to run away...Eleanor wasn't the right person since she was Levi's sister...

"Damn it...damn it!" cursed Eleanor and kicked the chair at the same time, "You!" I flinched at her furious voice but gladly she pointed at her brother. "How could you do this to her?! Are you soul-less?" she yelled at Levi who kept fixing his eyeglasses in slight nervousness and he didn't even look at the brunette who was getting angrier and angrier. "F**K! ANSWER ME?!" she swiftly grabbed her brother up by the collar making us reflectively come forward. "Hey, hey, stop! El!" Lark came between his siblings but Eleanor didn't even glance at Lark, all of her attention was on Levi. They both stared into each other eyes before Levi calmy said, "I lied. I didn't sleep with Lana" s**t no. What?!

We all furrowed our eyebrows and waited for a further explanation because, to be honest, I think everyone is tired from this freaking drama.

"Then why the hell you created this circus?" asked annoyingly Bern.

Levi slowly exhaled and took off his eyeglasses and now he looked absolutely like Lark, "I wanted to end this relationship long ago but Ava didn't want to believe my words, and she...she just couldn't let me go. After meeting Lana...hmph, I came up with a plan...I decided to spend most of my time with Lana so that everyone would think that I am starting to date her and then created a rumor about how I slept with Lana and cheated on Ava and thanks to you Eveline!" as he spoke our faces turned to less confused but now everyone's eyes were on me. "If you wouldn't come here and create this whole show, I and Ava wouldn't break up." Levi was so damn calm and satisfied with what happened and I think he really is thanking me...what a bastard.

"You are kidding?" muttered Eleanor and we saw how her eyes slowly changed their color to glowing dark brown and I am sure Levi started to be afraid. "You think if my friend, YOUR friend who was always by your side! ALWAYS! Didn't want to break up with you, it's okay to break her heart like this?!" her voice changed to low and came out more like a growl of an animal.

"Huh, don't tell me this alright? I did the right thing, yes maybe I broke her heart and perhaps she will never talk to me but she will someday understand everything and when she will...I will tell her the truth" replied, confidently Levi.

Damn! And he is the smartest?

"Rah!!!" growled El before slamming his body on the wall as if it was not heavy at all.

"Oh man, you better keep your f**king mouth shut" commented Bern while giving Maverick a high five.

"I am sorry but you should get over it" uttered Levi with a hoarse voice and that's when he was punched in the jaw, again, again, and again by the girl's fists.

Oh my God! Why does everyone just stand and watch this?!

"REECE! Do something!" I exclaimed at the only one who has the respect of everyone and the one who can stop this.

Reece made his way toward Eleanor who was on top of Levi. He sat near her and leaned to her ear, whispering something that we couldn't hear. After a couple of seconds, Eleanor stopped and slowly, graciously stood up while breathing heavily and then fixing her high ponytail from black, long hair. Levi laid still, he looked in the ceiling while his face was in bruises and blood was dripping out of his mouth and nose...gladly Reece made her stop, or otherwise, Levi would've done plastic surgery.

Eleanor looked one last time at Levi before hurriedly going the same way out of here like Ava.

"Wow...Eveline this is all because of you. Not only this but everything! After your coming, everything went down the hill!" exclaimed, inflated Maverick. His words didn't mean anything and they had no sense but he made me believe that it is m fault.

"Shut up, Ricks!" said Bern at his brother but this is made him even angrier, "You think I am not right? First, she didn't let you guys finish the work in New Orleans,"

"What?!" well this one is literally bullshit! "I saved them, dumbass!"

"They are the most powerful shifters! They would get out of there by themselves and would find the other kidn*pped shifters! Second, when you came here, someone destroyed Lord Reece's office," I think he is joking.

"And what are you trying to say? I was with you on the ball!" I chuckled at his 'smart' expression, so do Bern did, even he knows that his brother inherited talking bullshit.

"Third, this!" he widened his arms and pointed around. "Levi is beaten up, Ava is broken, Eleanor is furious and we all are without mood" I sighed and rolled my eyes. Well...he is not joking.

Maybe, it is me who causes problems? What if he is right? What if I am creating chaos in my life and all around?

"Eveline is not involved in any of that. Stop being such an ass, Maverick" I heard young Lord's soft but stern voice that gave me protection and made me feel better.

"I agree with the Lord, Rick. Keep your mouth shut" winked Bern at his brother who pursed his lips.

"Okay. I think we should get this dumbass to the infirmary, help me Ricks" said Lark while lifting his twin-brother who was looking unconscious.

"I will come with you" offered Bern and soon all three of them disappeared, leaving me with Lord Reece Willer.

Oh, damn it...

I tried my best not to look at the guy near me and I know I can just go away but...argh, I can't...

"Don't feel guilty" I heard him saying.

"Why did I run to Levi and Ava to tell this?.. It was non of my business but yet I still went, to tell the truth," I looked at the blood on the floor where Levi laid.

"I know," he murmured making me look at him. Only now did I notice that he changed his outfit to more comfortable. It was the first time I saw him in black joggers and a hoody with marvel comics print on it and he had unusual Vans keds. He usually wears something more formal and serious but these clothes make him look like a cool, popular frat boy from college.

"You wanted Ava to know the truth because...you know how it feels like," he lowered his hazel eyes and continued, "Today I saw...I saw how you felt when Ava found out the 'truth'. all the time I was looking at you because...your face showed so many emotions as if you felt all over again what..." he stopped and bit his lip and closed his eyes, "What I did to you." this words came out full of pain and regret.

At least he understands his mistake and...realized what I was feeling.

My face went blank as I answered, "You knew through what I went but still did this, you know I want to ask you the same question Ava asked Levi. Why?" even if my face tried to hide my feelings, my voice kept breaking.

Reece didn't answer but he didn't look away. He kept looking into my hard, cold eyes.

"I didn't mean to do this to you" his eyes softened and his voice changed as if he was apologizing. "But you did. I guess you are not that perfect and wise, Lord Willer" he parted his lips as if wanted to say something but prevented himself from doing it and instead tightened them into a thin line and nodded.

"We will see each other tomorrow at the same time?" I blinked, trying to understand what he is talking about. "The training"

He has one step to make to become a cold robot-like Levi...

"Yes..." I hardly pronounced and looked away from his hypnotizing eyes.

"Good. Then, goodbye and till-tomorrow, Miss Campbell" he used the same intonation as I did and slightly smiled.

"Goodbye, your grace" with these words we both turned away from each other and exited through different doors.
