CHAPTER 2 LOST

1561 Words
LOST Running as my heart beats faster, "I don't understand what's wrong with me, why can I read their mind, and what is that voice?" I said to myself as I got to the restroom, which had a space where one could stand with five dressing mirrors hung on the wall that showed the toilet doors. I stared at myself in the mirror, noticed claws on my hands, and freaked out. I tried to calm myself down before a group of girls came into the restroom, and I quickly entered one of the toilets and made no noise so as not to be caught. As soon as my nerves were down, the claws disappeared, and I couldn't seem to see them anymore. I felt my life coming to an end. I came out of the toilet and ran out of the hallway as they all stared at me, and I noticed all I wanted was to go home. I ran out of the school. I found it easy to run back home without a guide or direction for some reason unknown to me. I could remember the route my mom followed this morning while she drove us to school, and that was when I remembered Imogen was at the school. "Damn Mom is going to pick her up anyway," I said to make myself feel okay about it. I went to my room, locked the door, and tried to sleep when the voice spoke to me, "You are a coward for running away; you should have killed them all." He laughed evilly. I used my hands to close my ears to stop hearing the voice, but I could hear his voice regardless. Then suddenly, I heard my mom calling out my name. "Oh, they must be back now; I don't want them to see me this way. She came up upstairs and knocked on my room door. "Mae! Why did you come back? You left Imogen at school, and you knew I would pick you guys up late. How did you find your way home? '' she asked, and I felt hurt hearing her. "Mom, I'm sorry, I had a running stomach. I took a cab home," I replied. She said nothing; I could hear her footsteps descending to her room. Mom had her bath, came downstairs, and made dinner. She called out my name, and I came to join them for dinner. I went downstairs for dinner, and I silently prayed not to hear the voice in my head. My mom stared at me, asking why Imogen asked, "Are you okay?" and I responded, "Yes, I'm okay." We had mashed potatoes, steak, and red wine for dinner. I was enjoying the food, specifically the steak before I heard "How was your first day at school?" from my mom. I had choked on hearing the questions. I honestly did not want to talk about it, but I had to. "It was okay, Mom," I assured her, then she went ahead to ask me, "Did you make any new friends today?" It felt like a gun was pointed at me. I chuckled and smiled. "No, Mom, it was just my first day," I blabbed, and we all laughed. I took Imogen to her room to sleep after we finished eating. She wanted me to spend my night with her, but I was conscious of the voice in my head and didn't want her to see me acting creepy. I walked up to the balcony and watched the stars shine brightly, the blue sky, and the full moon. It felt cool for a while, so I headed to my room and nodded off. It was 1. in the morning, and everywhere was quiet. If a pin dropped, you would hear the sound, and I began to sleepwalk. I was in the living room, opened the freezer, ate the raw meat and chicken, and went back upstairs to sleep. At the break of the morning, I got up, my hands with red blood stains and some meat leftover hanging in my teeth. I gasped for breath, tears in my eyes. I tapped my foot on the floor, and my heart was shattered. I honestly don't know what was wrong with me or why all this happened, and to make matters worse, I couldn't remember how all that happened. I immediately went to the bathroom and washed up before my mom came to my room, and I was going to skip school. I feel threatened by everything happening so fast. I went to the dressing mirror inside my room, gazed at myself, and suddenly Imogen knocked on the door. "Mae, we are leaving now; Mom wants you to come out," she said, pausing for a moment. I breathed in and exhaled. "Why so early? What about breakfast? Have you had breakfast?" I blurted. "Mom wants you to come; we are going now," she screamed as she ran out. I did not go out and locked myself inside the room. "Honey! Are you okay?" Mom said this as she went upstairs and knocked on the door. "Are you okay? Come out; we are leaving now, and I'm running late," she uttered. I sadly responded, "Mom, I'm not going today." Mom exhaled, "What is wrong, honey? You can talk to me." I walked around my room in disappointment and placed my right hand on my head. "Mom, I'm fine," I blurted. She left, and I walked to my room window and looked at the Jeep as they drove off. I felt relieved. I went on the Internet on my MacBook, browsed through the weird things I experienced, and a couple of searches popped up. I scrolled through it and clicked on hallucination, which said I needed rest and everything I experienced was a hallucination. I closed the laptop. "Yeah, sure," I whispered, and I fell asleep after that. In the woods, as the rain drops, the dark, cloudy weather and thunder rumble. The cool breeze blew, no birds could be seen, the sounds of the raindrops on the tree leaves could be heard, and the night grew faster. I found myself running in the woods barefoot, my hair and the white long gown I wore all soaked. I seemed sad; something was after me, and the voice was loud and fierce. "Come, my wish is your command," and I felt impulsive and had no control over myself. He said, "Now go, kill!"Kill them; don't spare anyone; embrace your power; kill or be killed." I ran out of the woods to my house; my teeth were out, and my claws were ready to pierce into any heart I could hear. I found my mom in the dining room, going through her patient files on her laptop. She noticed someone was there with her; she turned, and the voice grew louder and more coercive. I pierced my hands inside her chest and grabbed her heart out, not giving her a chance to shout, and I saw Imogen on the staircase, shaking in fear and crying. "Mae, what's wrong?" She questioned me, but that wasn't enough to stop me. I grabbed her, tilted her neck, and she fell dead. I thought it was all in my dream, and only after their deaths did I get myself, close my eyes in disappointment, and my senses disappeared, but I could slightly hear my heart beating one at a time like a band drumming at a time. I fell on my knees and held my sister's hand. "Imogen, wake up, please!" I ran to Mom, wailing in tears. "Mom, Oh! What have I done?" I looked for a phone and dialed 911, and a policeman answered, "Hello." Placing my hands on my hair, I cried bitterly, "I need your help; please help me," and the phone fell from my hands to the floor. He was still talking, "Hello! Hello, we are coming to you, Please stay still." I never told him the address, so I never expected the police to come. I fell on the floor that was covered in Mom's blood, and her heart was on the floor too. The voices had gone, and I was left desolate. I fainted from shock. I still don't know who I am; now my only family is gone. With no possible explanation, the feeling is numb. I should take my life too. The police siren wailed from a distance, they drove at speed, they were able to track my location after the call, and about two police cars came with five policemen alongside an ambulance. They arrived, rushing out of the vehicles. The policemen and emergency personnel brought out the ambulance stretcher placed Mom on it, wrapped her body, closed her eyes, and covered her face. They checked Imogen's pulse and signaled that she was dead. They brought in a second stretcher, carried her, and repeated the same thing they did to Mom. Now, they checked me and found out that I was alive. They placed me on the stretcher, took me inside the van, and the ambulance drove at high speed. The reporters came inside my house, took pictures of the scene, and the policemen restricted the area by using yellow crime scene tape or barricade tape. This tape was made of plastic and brightly colored, with the words "POLICE LINE DO NOT CROSS."
