EPISODE4:- WHISPERS OF THE HIDDEN HEIR

634 Words
Morning sunlight spilled through the tall windows of the Silver Heights Hotel lobby, bouncing off the golden frames and the white marble floors Leo had cleaned a hundred times. Today, though, the air felt different. People glanced at him in a way they never had before — not with mockery, but with respect. “Hey, Leo,” one of the bellboys said awkwardly, scratching his head. “About yesterday… you were brave, man.” Leo gave a faint smile. “I just did what was right.” “Still,” the boy murmured, “you made us all look like cowards.” By noon, the story had spread beyond the hotel walls. A guest had filmed the entire rescue on her phone and posted it online with the caption: “Hotel Janitor Saves Child — Refuses Reward.” The video went viral overnight. Comments poured in from everywhere: “We need more people like this in the world.” “Not all heroes wear suits.” “If this guy ever needs a job, I’ll hire him myself.” Leo didn’t even know he’d become famous. He was too busy polishing the reception desk when the manager, Mr. Doyle, came striding toward him with a stiff smile. “Grayson! My office, now.” Leo followed him quietly, wiping his hands on his work apron. Doyle pointed at his computer screen. The viral video was playing. “There,” he said. “You’re a celebrity, apparently. Do you have any idea how much publicity this is bringing us? Head office wants to feature your story in our press release.” Leo froze. Head office. If that happened, his image would be everywhere — news outlets, blogs, social media — and sooner or later, someone from The Circle, his father’s private network, would see it. He couldn’t let that happen. “Sir,” Leo said carefully, “I appreciate the thought, but… please don’t include my name. I didn’t do it for attention.” The manager frowned. “You’re serious? This could earn you recognition — maybe even a raise.” Leo smiled faintly. “Then give the raise to the next janitor who works as hard.” Doyle stared at him, puzzled. “You’re a strange one, Leo. Most people would be begging for interviews right now.” “Maybe that’s the problem,” Leo replied softly. “Too many people chasing headlines.” That night, his phone buzzed — an encrypted number flashing on the screen. He sighed and answered. “Master Leo,” said a calm voice on the other end. “This is Hawk. The Circle has seen the video.” “I figured,” Leo murmured, glancing out the window. “Your father is concerned. He says anonymity was the condition for your freedom.” “I know,” Leo said quietly. “But I didn’t plan this. I just… helped a child.” “Even so,” Hawk replied. “The wrong eyes are watching. There are those who would use your identity against the Grayson name.” Leo’s hand tightened on the phone. “Then let them look. I’m not ashamed of who I am.” “Be careful, sir,” Hawk warned. “You’re playing with two worlds — and one of them bites.” After the call, Leo sat at the edge of his bed, lost in thought. He looked at his hands again — the same hands that had once signed million-dollar contracts, now stained with cleaning soap. Somewhere in the city, his name — the real one — was echoing in private boardrooms. But here, in this quiet room, he was just Leo. He smiled faintly and whispered, “Let them talk. The world doesn’t know me yet — but it will.”
