I assumed the people of Santa Teresa thought of Mother Adrianna the same way the people of Santa Sophia did. She could not even say her name. Was that one of the consequences for committing an act of passha? “That woman is Mother Adrianna. I’m a fourth-generation member of her family.” She looked at me again, even more surprised now. “I’m sorry, Diondray. I did not mean to be hurtful in my comments.
