The young mage then looked at The Master who was continuing with his spell. He had his eyes closed in concentration. Carthinal knew that he must do something to help his friend. He could feel the warping of the mana all around, but especially between the two victims. There it seemed as though it were pulling away from The Cat towards the panther. How could he stop it? He was nowhere near as strong in magic as Wolnarb. Then he remembered that the mana could not pass through water. He quickly spun a spell that drew the water vapour from the air, and he positioned the mist between The Cat and the panther. He detected a change in the mana as he did so, and so it seemed did Wolnarb. As his eyes opened, Carthinal quickly dismissed the water vapour. 'Something has changed,' frowned the older man
