Chapter fourteen - Party and talking nonsense

2359 Words
Cole's POV: One month has passed since the new university year started. As I see it, Zoe won't talk much with me. This might be better. She was clear about one thing. The girl won't date anyone. That is not what I wanted from her, but I got curious. Something must have happened since she is sure about this. I want to ask. The thing is that I'm not sure if I have to do it. She might not tell me anything. After all, that is something personal. It's not a lie that I would like to try with her. She is different from Elina. They have nothing in common. I talked with her two days ago. It turned out that it was true. She doesn't want to have anything in common with her sister. I tried to understand why, but she didn't say much. From what I understood, it seems like she is jealous of her. I don't know how this is possible. Their lives are so different. Zoe doesn't do any of the things her sister does. I don't see a reason for Elina to be worried. At least she didn't do anything to her. I was afraid that this might happen after we broke up. Somehow, she found out that I was texting her sister. I guess my lie didn't help. I did because they already had problems. No matter that, I don't see anything wrong with that. It looks like only I think this way. As long as Zoe doesn't have problems, I will be fine. Soon, there will be a party. I plan to invite her. I don't know if she will accept. She needs to stop thinking about her problems and have fun. Well, the final decision is hers. I will like it if she comes. I hope that she and Elina won't argue there. There is a party today. A fourth grader is making it. I'm glad that the university let us do such things. Usually, people use the same room. I still haven't invited Zoe, but I plan to do it. Hopefully, she will accept. Ben will be there, too. He never misses a party. At least we have fun. Some people get drunk quickly. I'm not one of them. Let's say that I don't want to wake up with a terrible headache. No, thank you. For now, I prefer to be on the good side. Today, I have only two classes. Luckily, both of them are in the morning. I got up and went to get ready for the day. When I was ready, I woke up my roommate. Otherwise, he will be late for his class. He likes sleeping until late, but he can't do it today. Ben can take a nap before the party. He didn't like it. One thing about my best friend is that he hates being late. If that happens, his whole day is ruined. That's why I'm doing my best to be sure this won't happen. When we were ready, we walked to our class. - Hey, Jake. Do you mind if I sit here? - No, it's ok. - Thanks. Do you have a partner for the project? - We had only two weeks. - Yes, but he gave us more time. - That is good. I have no idea with who I want to work. - How about me? - Really? It can't be worse, so deal. We still need another person. - I was thinking about a girl. - Why? - Because they think differently than boys. She might give us good ideas. - No problem, but who should we ask? - Alice? - No, no. I can't do that. I worked on a project with her, and it didn't end well. - Then who? - Jasmine? - She will leave us to do everything alone. - Layla. - Yeah, she will be good. - So, it's her. - Hey, Layla. Can you come for a second? - Yes, sure. What do you want? - Cole and I want to make you an offer. You can't deny it. - What is it? - Do you want us to work on the project together? - I asked - For real? Why me? - Because you are the only one who fits our criteria. - What are your criteria? - A person who works. - Ok, then. Deal. - Thanks. You won't regret it. - I hope so. After my classes, I went to find Zoe. I texted her, but she didn't respond. That's why I walked to her dorm. Hopefully, she is there. I don't know where else to search for her. I knocked on the door and waited. - Hello. - Hey, Bella. Is Zoe here? - No, I'm sorry. Should I tell her that you are looking for her? - I texted her, but she didn't respond. - I'm sorry. - There is a party tonight. Do you plan to come? - Really? I didn't know. Where is it? - On the fourth floor. A fourth grader is making it. - Am I allowed? - Everyone is. - Awesome. I will come, for sure. - Great. - Did you plan to invite Zoe? - How do you know? - I'm a girl. I know everything. - she said, chuckling - I should've known. Feel free to come. I will go now. - Ok, no problem. Bye. - Bye, Bella. - I said and left I found Zoe in the backyard. She agreed to come to the party. I told her that Elina might be there as well. The party is open to everyone. I can't tell her not to come. Maybe they won't have problems there. That is what I hope. We talked for some time. Then I went to my dorm. Ben was sleeping. I shouldn't be surprised. He looked tired when I woke him up in the morning. I can do it as well. After all, I don't know how long I can stay at this party. I ordered some food for lunch. I'm not that hungry. When I finished it, I went for a nap. I need one. Around 6 pm, I woke up. I have no idea when the party starts, but I won't go now. It's early. Ben was already out. He is probably with Annie and Chloe. I don't know if they will come. Mostly, that is because Annie doesn't study here. I don't think this will be a problem. She won't do anything. I texted Zoe to see where she was. Both with Bella were getting ready. After an hour, we arrived. - There are so many people here. - Zoe said - Welcome to your first party here. - I said - It's a bit loud. - You will get used to this. - Bella, are you ok? What are you looking at? - Who is that boy there? - Ben? - Yes. He is cute. - That is my roommate. If you want, I can call him. - No, no. Thanks. I will go there. These are people from my class. - Bella said and left - Is it me, or does she have a crush on him? - Zoe asked - I think she does. They haven't met. Right? - I don't think so. - Now it's their chance. - Poor girl. She can't take her eyes off him. - she said, chuckling - Do you want to be Cupid? - No, I don't. Everything will happen naturally. - Why? - Look where she is. Ben will go for a drink after some time. They will meet. - Good eye. Can I steal a dance now? - I can't dance. - Neither do I. - I have a better idea. - Which is? - Follow me. Zoe went for drinks and gave me one. I tried to tell her not to drink it because it had a bit of alcohol in it. She didn't listen. Hopefully, the consequences won't be terrible. I should say that she was right about Bella and Ben. I have no idea what they were talking about, but at least they had fun. I looked at Elina. She didn't even notice me. It's not like I care that much. I won't lie. It hurts a bit. As I see it, I cared about this relationship more than her. Otherwise, she wouldn't have moved on so quickly. I guess Zoe noticed that. She went to talk with her sister about something. What happened next is a mystery. I don't want to know. - Hey, are you ok? - I am great. This party, too. - I think you are drunk. How much did you drink? - I don't know. Who cares? - Well, I do. Now, tell me. - I have no idea. Maybe two or three cups. - What? Three cups. Are you crazy? - Come on. It tasted good. I liked it. - This drink is not for you. We have to go. - What? I'm not going anywhere. - Zoe, I don't think you should be here. - But I do. If you want, you can go. I will stay here. - Zoe, listen to me. I'm saying this for your good. - I don't care. I'm staying. - Is there something I can do to make you go? - Nope. Maybe if you dance with me, I will leave a bit early. - I told you that I don't dance. Neither do you. - The problem is not mine. You have to learn. - I'm not doing this. - Then leave. I will find someone else to dance with me. - Not in this state. - Why do you always have to kill the fun? Dance with me. Please. - she said and made puppy eyes - Fine, but I will do it only once. - Yay! Let's go. - I can't believe that I'm doing this. This girl will regret it later. I'm sure about this. On the other hand, she should dance with me rather than with someone else. I won't do anything to her. After some time, I will take her to her dorm. Hopefully, this will be soon. If I tire her enough, she might want to go. I looked up only for a second. Zoe was gone. Where the heck did she go? I have to find her. - Hey, man. - I can't talk right now. - Why? Did something happen? - I lost Zoe. - What are you talking about? She is right there. - What? - I don't understand why you are freaking out. - Because she got drunk. - Oh, I see. - She will regret this. - At least you are here. - That is not helping. - Let her have fun. This doesn't happen every day. - I know, but she won't like what happened. - Why do you have to tell her? - Because she won't remember what happened. Then she will come to ask me because she knows I was here, too. - You are thinking much about it. Let her go. She won't do anything. After all, this is not Elina. - Zoe talked with her, but I don't know about what. - That is between them. Stop worrying about her and have fun. Look how many girls are here. - I'm not in the mood for that. - Then why did you come? - I came for Zoe. The thing is that I don't want to stay here anymore. - Then go. - I can't leave her alone. - Won't you admit it? - To admit what? - That you like Zoe. You won't leave her alone because you are scared someone might try on her. - That is not true. - If you say so. I will go and have fun. I think you should do the same. - Ben said and left I stayed here for some time. Then I went out. Well, with Zoe. She was drunk and tired. I wanted to take her to her dorm, but she refused. I noticed how she was almost asleep. In that case, she can be in my dorm. I don't mind. I gave her some clothes and let her on my bed. She was quick to fall asleep. After some time, Ben showed up. - What is going on here? - Ben asked - Nothing. What is that smile? - I don't see a smile. - Something happened. I saw you walking after Bella. - She did it first. The girl is cute. I bet she is a first-grader. - Yes, this is Zoe's roommate. - What? Really? - Yes. - Good then. I will go out. - Where? With Bella? - Maybe. - Hold on. Will you be in her dorm? - Don't ask too much. What we do is our business. - You won't sleep there, right? - No, no. I will come back. - If you say so. At least keep her safe. - Very funny. We won't do anything. - I hope you believe what you said. - I do. Why? - Because I don't. I know what will happen. - Take care of your girl. - She is sleeping. - For now. I will go. See you later. - Have fun. - I said, and he left I wonder when he will get a girlfriend. He deserves it more than anyone. I'm glad that he is making moves on someone. This is what he should do. Now, I should take care of Zoe. I will think about what I should tell her. I'm sure she will ask me many questions. Well, I better tell her the truth. Lying to her won't help me. Also, someone else might talk with her. She better hear it from me. Nothing happened. I'm not saying that getting drunk is a good thing. She didn't do anything. I was with her the whole time. It was a good party, but I don't think she needs to go to another one. I hope that she will understand me.
