Carlos Rivera leaned back in his sleek office chair, the hum of the air conditioning and the gentle clatter of keyboards providing a soothing backdrop to his thoughts. The city outside his window was bustling with activity, a vibrant tapestry of life that never seemed to pause. Carlos had always been a driven individual, finding satisfaction in his professional achievements and the successes of his projects. However, lately, his focus had shifted, and it wasn’t solely due to work.

Maria’s cheerful tone: “Hi, Carlos! It’s so nice to see you. How was your day so far?”

Carlos’s response: “Hi, Maria! It’s been a good day, thanks. I’ve been looking forward to this lunch. How about you? How’s everything going?”

Maria settled into her seat and began to share the highlights of her day, including a few amusing anecdotes about work and her interactions with colleagues. Carlos listened intently, his admiration for her growing with each story she told.

Maria’s story: “Today was hectic, but there were some funny moments. My coworker accidentally sent an email to the entire department instead of just our team. It’s been the talk of the office all day!”

Maria’s response: “Wow, Carlos, that’s really kind of you. I’ve enjoyed our time together as well. I’m just not sure what to say at the moment. I need to think about it.”

Carlos’s thoughtful reply: “Of course, take all the time you need. I value our friendship, and I don’t want to make things uncomfortable. Just know that I’m genuinely interested in getting to know you better.”
