Jeremy blinked, tilting his head. “Is this the ending?” he asked, looking genuinely puzzled. “It doesn’t sound right.”
Sloane chuckled, her voice warm. “Why not?”
“Because the queen should still have adventures! She just married the prince and stopped?”
Before she could respond, her phone buzzed on the table. The unfamiliar number made her pause for a heartbeat before she picked it up.
“Doctor Veyre, did you get into trouble at Blackthorn Corp?” Nick’s anxious voice came through immediately.
