“I can manage,” Sloane said, a little too quickly, grabbing the vegetables. Dominic plucked them from her hands with effortless calm. “I’ll rinse these.” The sound of running water filled the silence. His movements were precise, almost methodical, sleeves rolled up to his forearms, veins visible under tanned skin. He wasn’t doing much, but somehow the room felt smaller, and her heartbeat louder. “You’re staring,” he said suddenly, not looking at her. “I’m what?” She blinked. He finally turned his head, a ghost of amusement tugging at his lips. “Am I doing it wrong?” Sloane laughed softly, shaking her head. “No. Just didn’t picture the great Alpha Volkov doing dishes, that’s all.” He hummed, a low sound that sent a ripple down her spine. “Guess I’m full of surprises.”
