“I’m not here to cause a scene,” Sloane’s voice cut through the noise, trembling yet fierce. “Nick, even if you think I’m wrong, please, at least run the tests. For your grandfather’s sake.”
But Nick’s face only grew darker.
“I gave you a chance to walk away. You chose defiance. Don’t blame me for what comes next.”
He flicked his hand. Instantly, bodyguards closed in, their shadows swallowing her small frame.
“Drag her out,” Nick commanded. “And find out who’s feeding her this garbage. No one smears my grandfather and walks away.”
That was all it took. The audience erupted.
“So that’s it, she’s just trying to scare people for attention!”
“Doesn’t she know how much Mr. Brown has done for medicine? Forty-three years of research, and she dares slander him like this?”
