I watched as Brone processed my words, the shock growing with each passing moment. We drove silently in the car, him never uttering a single word for the rest of the drive. The silence was killing me, I wished he would say something, anything so I would know where he stood on all of this. Whether he hated me for it or not, I needed to know. We reached the cabin and he rolled to a slow stop just outside. I glanced at him, hoping he would say something but he still refused to even look at me, so I simply stepped out the car and headed for the mountains, hoping they would offer me the same comfort they had so many times before.
I was about to make my climb up to summit when the sound of the car opening drew my attention.
