Changeling Academy

Part One. Chapter One

This is gonna be horrible.

I was packing my suitcase while I was thinking of all the things that could go wrong at Changeling Academy.

What if I get no A's and get kicked out?

What if no one accepts my changeling type?

What if I slip up in front of hot boys? This is terrifying!

When I was done packing, I closed the door on my bedroom and headed downstairs. There was one lemon bar left on the living room table so I took it and ate it.

Not quite how mom used to make them. I wish she was here to see me leave.

I closed the door, locked it and went to the car with my purple suitcase and purple backpack. I put the luggage in the boot and entered the driver's seat. After starting the black Hyundai, I drove to the dark alleyway on the other side of the block. That is where the secret entrance to Changeling Academy Station is.

I left my car, locked it and entered the dark alleyway. When I reached a dead end, I placed my hand on the wall in front of me. I pushed some of my air magic into the wall and it started glowing a light blue.

Okay...here goes me entering my new life in the changeling world.

I closed my eyes and pushed through the wall,it feeling like a curtain on my body.

When I came out the other side, I opened my eyes and found myself on an oak platform with cream white walls and pillars and many changelings. Before I could leave the shadow of the wall, I adjusted my black hoodie on my head and my white track pants together with my purple takkies. I made sure none of my purple hair was showing to make sure no one knew I was a jacaranda bird. They will find that out at the academy.

I stepped out of the shadow of the wall and onto the platform,my suitcase thudding behind me.

Maybe it's time to use some air magic.

I used my air magic to lift my suitcase off the ground and let it hover behind me. With hands in my hoodie pockets, I walked to the first pillar on my left. After taking off my backpack,I leaned onto the pillar and took out a purple notebook and black pencil from my backpack. I let my floating suitcase gently thud to the ground and used more air magic to make my backpack fly onto it. I then used more air magic to hover a meter off the ground and sat cross-legged in mid air.

Is this showing off?Nah; it's just a way to make them guess what bird changeling am I.

Then I started drawing in my purple book on a new page.The station was huge but by the time I heard the faint whistle of the train half an hour later, I was done drawing what I could see of it. I closed my book, put it and my pencil back in my backpack,slung it over my shoulder,stood up and dragged my suitcase behind me towards the edge of the platform. At that moment,a magnificent forest green train with gold outlines pulled into the station. When it stopped, I entered the first car.

The inside of the train and the little tables were the same dark oak as the platform and the three seater chairs were covered in soft moss. The train car was huge and could probably fit 40 changelings. I headed to the end of the car and sat at the last three seater on my left. After that, using my air magic,I put my suitcase in the compartment above me. I looked out of the window, waiting for the train to start moving. Just then,a girl with dark blue hair and dark blue eyes came and sat next to me.

"Is this seat taken?", she asked in a slightly pitched voice.

"No.", I said.

She sat down when I noticed something about her.

"Hey, we're matching.", I said with a smile.

She analysed me and then look down."Except for the shoes", she pointed out while I looked at her dark blue takkies and my purple ones."I'm Bianca by the way. What's your name?"

She offered me her hand and I shook it."I'm Janelle. Nice to meet you."

The train then pulled out of the station and I turned to Bianca.

"You nervous?"

"Very. What about you?"

I smiled."Not anymore now that I found a friend."She smiled and we talked until we fell asleep.

Maybe things here won't be so bad after all.
