JENNY
All I could do was watch in the distance as she walked into the house. She couldn't see me.
I felt like a stalker, watching my own daughter. But I had no choice but to ensure she was okay before I left.
I was heading back to Greenwich Pack today, my pack and my home. I needed to tell my alpha what was happening.
Alpha Carson is three years older than Leah and took over the pack when his father died. He knew the pack inside and out and always helped his father all the time when he was younger.
As the door closed, I sighed and turned on my heel. I had a month to get my s**t together and prepare for the arrival of Leah. I was scared, but I needed to do this, not just for me but for Larry and Leah.
I strolled back and headed toward the motel where my brother awaited me. He knew what I was doing but didn't say anything.
He was shocked at how Leah acted, but as he said, she was like me for her temper, which wasn't good.
I knew I had hurt her, but it stung when Leah told her what she used to do, especially waiting for me to return home.
I needed to go home and be with my mate.
I knew I had to tell my other children, Alec and Ethan, their sister would be coming at the end of the month.
As I approached my brother, he looked at me. "Is she home?" he asked.
I nodded.
He sighed. "She will be okay," he said, turning around to get in the car.
We both climbed into the car; it was a good few hours away, so we would arrive when it was dark.
I looked over at my brother as he started the engine. "Has Alpha Carson got hold of you?" I asked.
Lucian looked at me and nodded. "He knows we are on our way back," he said and sighed. "He wants to know what you have decided to do. Is she coming here or not?"
I frowned. "You could have told him yourself," I said, frowning. "You drew up the document and had that human judge sign it."
Lucian smiled. "I know. But he wants to hear it all from you. Josh and you explained everything before you left to come here. He wasn't thrilled that you have a child with a human, but he understood."
I looked through the window. I hated being judged for my actions, but Leah was the only person who had the right to judge me. I hurt her.
I leaned back into the seat while Lucian looked at me. "It will be all fine," he said, gripping the steering wheel. "You will have to explain to her about our kind, though."
I closed my eyes. I was dreading that part. How would I do that when she wouldn't even talk to me?
Lucian placed the radio on and started humming to the playing tone. He drove away, and we headed out from the little town I used to call home.
I must have fallen asleep the whole journey home as Lucian shook me. I glared at him. "What?" I snarled.
"We are here," he said in an amused voice.
I looked around and realized we were back in the pack. It was quiet and in darkness, but you could see the alpha's office light was still on.
I sighed.
"You slept all the way here," Lucian said.
I climbed out of the car, not saying anything. I didn't sleep much when I arrived to see Leah. I could hear silent snores in my head, letting me know my wolf was asleep. She had been pacing back and fore till we saw Leah arrive home.
"I guess I needed it," I said, sounding defeated. "I didn't sleep much in that motel."
He nodded.
"I don't blame you," he said, pulling a face.
I walked toward the pack house and headed inside. Lucian followed me till we were outside Alpha Carson's office door and knocked.
"Come in," he shouted, and Lucian opened the door.
I walked in first, then Julian.
Alpha Carson looked up and smiled. "Jenny, you're back," he said. "And Julian."
We both bowed.
I looked at Alpha Carson; he was doing paperwork as it was mounted on his desk.
Alpha Carson noticed where I was looking and smirked. "I had to do training with the warriors for the last few days; the paperwork gets on top of me all the time.”
I nodded.
I was about to my mouth when the door to his office opened, and in walked his Beta and best friend, Zain. "Sorry," he muttered as he walked past us and stood beside Alpha Carson.
I frowned.
Zain looked at me and smiled. "I had to deal with an issue at the school again," he said, rolling his eyes.
Neither Alpha Carson nor Beta Zain had mates, so all the women were after them. Beta Zain was a player, but Alpha Carson was more focused on getting the pack in a good place to even think of a mate. I assumed so, as I hadn't seen him with a woman for a while.
Alpha Carson cleared his throat, which brought me back from my thoughts. "Jenny, can you tell us what you decided?" he asked, his eyes solely on me.
I looked at him and nodded. "Sure, Alpha," I said, glancing at Julian, who nodded to me and then looked back at Alpha Carson. "My daughter has to come to live with me as I'm the only living relative she has left," I said. "She's seventeen," but he interrupted me before I could finish my sentence.
"Is she human?" he asked.
I nodded.
"Okay," he said with a blank expression. "I will have to suggest that we keep her away from the pack house till she knows about our kind. We can gradually get her used to it and train her in human form."
I nodded.
"When is she coming here?" he asked, looking at me.
"In a month," I said.
Alpha Carson looked at me and c****d his head to the side. "There's something you haven't told me," he said, knowing when anyone lies to him. This was his telltale thing as an alpha.
I sighed. "I have to admit to you, Alpha. Leah, my daughter, doesn't exactly want to be here. She made that clear. I left her with her human dad to protect her, when I found my mate."
Alpha Carson nodded. "Do you think she will be a problem?" he asked. His eyes flicked between his eye colouring and his wolves. Something was up with him.
"I don't know, alpha," I said, wondering where he was going with this. "She lost her father in her car accident; she might be."
Alpha Carson stared at me. "What is that smell you're wearing?" he asked suddenly, making me look at him, puzzled. "Sorry, alpha," I asked, looking between Zain and Lucian.
Alpha Carson shook his head. "Never mind. Let me know when you will get her; I will place a pack link around to notify everyone about a human being on the pack grounds. It will be up to you to let everyone know who she is, but I will state she needs to be in training as soon as she finds out, so the sooner she knows about our kind, the better."
I nodded.
"You can now leave, Jenny. I bet you would like to see your mate and children.”
Alpha Carson nodded but then looked at my brother and then said, turning to look at him. "Julian, can you stay behind? I need to speak with you about something."
Alpha Carson turned to me and smiled. "Jenny, you are free to go.”
I nodded and said my goodbyes. Then walked out of the office and headed back outside.
I walked straight in the direction of my home, while my mind raced. I wanted Leah here with me, but knowing exactly how she felt, it was killing me inside.
I walked toward my home I shared with my family and walked inside. The fire burned, and the heat hit my face as I walked toward the lounge.
Josh was sitting on the couch; he looked up from the book he was reading and smiled. "You're home," he said, getting up from the sofa.
I smiled as he came over to me, while wrapping me in a hug. He pulled me closer as his scent surrounds my heart and makes me feel at home.
My wolf purrs in my head; she missed our mate. But she was still missing our pup.
I did too.
All I needed right now was my family, nothing else.
