Serenya’s Pov Even though these were my final days as Luna, I couldn't ignore my duties, so I went back to the mating ball. I still felt the weight of it, but I was unwilling to give up on it at this point. I quickly texted our family lawyer, Michael Smith, to arrange a meeting at the packhouse tomorrow to prepare the divorce agreement after taking a brief look at my phone. I was somewhat relieved that I knew he would keep it a secret. I made my way through the crowd, smiling at those who hadn't found their mates and personally congratulating those who had. Before long, Kaelen Draxion joined me, his presence inevitable. To keep from being rumored, we danced while acting like the ideal couple. With his body near mine and every skin brush tugging at me, he said, "You know I can sense your feelings even when you try to hide them," during the waltz. "What's your point?" I asked, trying to sound casual. Through his teeth, he hissed. "After learning about my fated mate, you began to reveal your true nature." "So, what did you expect? That I would weep and plead? I sneered. "Alpha Kaelen Draxion, I will not give you the satisfaction of my tears." His eyes were filled with disbelief as he shook his head. "I feel like I don't know you when I see this side of you." I retorted, "As if you ever tried." Tell me, what is my favorite colour, Favorite dish? Knowing he had no response, I gave him a pitiful smile. "I'm going. Inform everyone that I'm sick. "You are sick? Are you expecting a child? His eyes narrowed as he asked. "No. I lied, the words stinging my tongue, "just an excuse." I felt bad about lying about something so important, but I had to check to see if he was even interested. Keeping his temper in check, he stated, "I still want you to get a check-up tomorrow." "A surprise or you raising my heir by yourself is the last thing I want." He had asked me to be his partner of choice. He asked me to start a family. He had requested my departure. He now desired to have children as well. I clenched my teeth and spat, "Well, now that I know what a jerk you are, I will get rid of your little thing instead of raising it." He pulled his hand away from mine as his hazel eyes flashed blue. He yelled angrily, "Get out of here before I make you look foolish." I left without trying to soothe him. He was no longer mine. Hot tears streamed down my cheeks as I fell to the ground, screaming in agony. It felt like a nightmare, even though this should have been a night of celebration. The betrayal was more painful than any heartbreak I had ever experienced. I relived every moment in my mind, imagining what could have happened if two fated lovers had found themselves alone together. I recalled my first encounter with Kaelen and how he had protected me during our summer camp's attack by rouges. When he took the blows intended for me, I was six years old, crying and afraid. I had vowed to find him again after witnessing his suffering, never imagining that he would later break me. A gentle knock on the door jolted me out of my thinking. "Luna!" Isla Draxion's voice called. "Michael Smith is here." My heart pounded with excitement. Why so early? I looked at the time. It's five o'clock. My pup will be hungry. I couldn't take the chance. Using our mind link, I sent the following thought: "Ask him to wait in the garden." With the threat of dizziness, I forced myself to stand up. Heartbreak, sleep deprivation, and hunger were taking their toll. My hair was a tangled mess, my makeup was ruined, and I looked more like a witch than Luna as I gazed into the mirror. I walked into the bathroom to fix it after giving myself a sour laugh. I came out a few minutes later, a new face with red eyes covered by goggles, dressed in a white and black top, a yellow pencil skirt, and white high heels. Ideally, or nearly so. I smiled as I left, causing Omegas to bow their heads. My shield was a smile. I sat in front of Uncle Michael and apologized for keeping him waiting. I could tell he already knew because of the sadness in his eyes. "Who knew you were crying last night?" He scowled after saying that. "Your number was off this morning, so I had to call Kaelen to understand the divorce agreement." I nodded while holding back my words and concentrating on the snacks. Hunger had taken me by surprise. Uncle Michael handed me the file and remarked, "His parents would be incensed over all of their actions if they were still living." The sight of it made my stomach turn. agreement for a divorce. I went cold. Did he have it ready already? Uncle Michael said softly, "I had a conversation with Kaelen this morning." "I was asked to prepare it according to his terms." I clenched my jaw. Was he unable to wait for me? I felt sick to my stomach when I saw the signature on the first page. The offer included ten billion dollars, a car, a penthouse, and additional expenses. "Why make such a large offer?" I muttered. "This payment for false hope?" Seeing my hesitation, he continued, "You know your dream of becoming a lawyer." I gave a small smile. "I assumed you were referring to medicine." I quietly corrected, "Yes, I am a medical student," and signed the documents. He reminded me, "You realize you have to leave the packhouse right away after signing?" I returned the signed contract. Uncle Michael, I'm going now. Be careful. Isla showed up carrying my keys and purse. I threw my purse in the passenger seat and slid into the driver's seat of the red Ferrari 488 after thanking her. With my heart racing, I turned on the engine and looked in the rearview mirror
