Chapter 6

Danny

Danny was tall 7’2 well build as he used to be a football player both at school and local center team, he was dark and handsome, and the guy had a killer smile and well defined jawline. He came from a family of four and he was the last born. His family had three boys and one girl who was the family princess, her name Leah kind and well behaved and never interfered with anyone’s business.  But one thing is that she loved her little brother to the moon and back, as unlike the other big brothers who always had scandals with girls in the village, Danny was different, despite girls making it clear that they liked him he never brought trouble home.

Leah “Danny are you okay” she walks on him as he was getting ready to climb his favorite tree. Leah knows that on top of that tree he has seen a lot unfold by the riverside.

“Huh…. (Raising one eyebrow up) me not okay? Danny asks

Leah, “Yeah lately you have become very jumpy (she folds her arms on her chest and starts walking slowly towards her brother) so spill it out, don’t forget I know you best bro!” (She lifts her chin up trying to be the same level with Danny)

“Are you sure, you know me best, because at times I feel like I don’t know myself? Danny asks

“Okay spit it, let me see if there is a solution, I don’t like seeing you looking restless like you do,” Leah offers to listen to her brother, “besides am older than you,” she adds

“Ha ha ha… here we go again with the being older phase…Danny makes a face at his sister. “came on bro you know I will leave here if you tell me what going on, I don’t like seeing you all jumpy and confused,” Leah says, she looks around makes some steps to the tree bunk where there is a stone, and sits.

Danny sighs, okay I see you won’t let me be unless I tell you. Huh….it’s kinda complicated…….also I think it will pass, maybe its late adolescents effects….actually, I don’t even know what it is, let’s say it is what it is for now. Wait until I figure everything out.

“Danny are you okay, you see that’s why I say you are not fine, you don’t even make sense, did you even listen to yourself, bro am ever here for you……and whatever you did mom and dad won’t even know I will cover it for you.” Leah was really worried, what did her brother do. But no matter what she will help, it Danny, she has to help, she made up her mind. “Little bro we need a plan, trust me am inn I will help.”

“Damn Leah you so sweet, I really love you…… (He wink at her) but for the record I have not done anything yet but maybe I might.”

“Okay can you talk, like a normal human being and stop beating around the bush, tell me Danny what’s the issue because you are confusing me please…” Leah was losing her patience she is not good at waiting.

Okay fine, I think I like someone….noo that came out too strong, yeah I think I have feelings for someone, Danny finally said it, and it felt good, woo he could even breath at least he got to tell someone about how he felt. Before Leah could react, because it was quite a shock, finally his brother likes someone,…….but he didn’t say the gender, because rumors has it that he like boys over girl, her brother hugged her, she got supplemental “ thanks sis you are a miracle worker, am lightsome now,” Danny commented.

Okay bro, (she puts her hands between them and Danny ends the hug) first of all, who is she/he?  Leah asks

“Really you are a joy killer but to make it clear it’s a she, that rumor of being guy, I started it, I hate girls drama”  Danny smiles. “No ways, Leah can’t believe that Danny pulled that on everyone, nowonder he was never worried of the rumor.” So now that we have cleared the air, sit down and tell me who is the lucky girl and how you two met, and is it someone I know?” Leah was really eager to know her bro crush.

So Danny narrates to her everything that happened that evening and how he felt, he even realized that, Evana was really cute. How he had followed her from the shopping center the day she was with her two friends. He even told Leah that lately spying on her while on the tree is really fun, he feels excited whenever he sees her. Leah could not believe her ears, true love can turn a guy into a fool and her poor brother who had stayed strong all this time is turning into a big love smitten fool.

Leah was delighted for her brother, but again it was Evana, although Leah is two years older than Danny, she knows the Irungu’s and their mom, she is not one to mess with, so dating the girl is like signing her death contract. So she had to talk her brother out of it before it’s too late.

“Okay Danny am elated that you are not gay, which even if you are I would still love you, nonetheless I think you need to take a step back,” Danny was all confused, one minute Leah was happy for him, the next minute she is asking him to give up. “Leah, I don’t get you, this is my first crush and am eighteen.” Precisely the reason why you should stop, we are talking about Evana for Christ sake, do you want her mother to kill her, especially now that her sister Sara run away, came on bro, beside you will be going to college soon. After meeting girls from the city you will get over Evana the poor village girl,” Leah tried to make her brother see sense. There was no need of ruining Evana’s life in the name of teenager love. Leah left her brother after consoling and emphasizing that he should not pursue Evana.

Although Leah managed to convince him, he vowed that he will lay low but when the time is right he will make Evana his girl. He climbs the tree and wondered if her first day in high school was good, at least he got a grimes of her in uniform and she looked good.  

Will Danny ever date Evana?
